As soon as it arrived, a student who struggles with completing assignments offered to help set up the cart and printer so he could print out items for his science project. The students had to create a superhero (or villain) based on a certain periodic element. He was so excited to see his superhero, Californium Kid, printed in full color! \r\n\r\nIn December, our Language Arts classes worked on a narrative writing project where students had to take a classic fairy tale and fracture it with a holiday, winter, or other twist, with a targeted audience of ages 5 to 8. Once their narrative was approved, they could use Canva, Google Slides, or other technology to create a storybook. Then, students published their picture books by printing the books in full color (thanks to you and your donation for the colored printer!), laminating the front and back covers, cutting the pages to size, and binding it together. For most students, this publishing stage was the first time they used a paper cutter, laminator, binding machine, and even setting up a printer on their own Chromebooks -- all providing a great opportunity to learn new skills. Multiple students commented during the publishing stage how much they enjoyed printing and working to make their final product. After publishing, seventh grade students then read their books to elementary students to share their creations. Students took pride in sharing the final product with the younger classes, where some even gifted their books to a younger sibling or a child they connect with during the experience! \r\n\r\nWe are all very grateful for your donation to help fund a color printer for our classroom.
