One memorable moment was watching students independently grab the materials they needed to build visual vocabulary tools and proudly share their finished work with classmates.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, my students were genuinely excited. They immediately noticed the bright markers, neatly organized bins, and fresh materials and couldn't wait to start using them. Several students commented on how \"official\" and \"organized\" everything looked, which boosted their confidence and motivation.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our next steps include continuing a visual-based language unit where students create and organize their own learning tools. Your support means so much to our classroom and will directly impact how my students connect with reading and representation this year.\r\n\r\n\r\nAlthough we haven't officially started our El Deafo reading unit yet, my students are already excited about having their own copies of the book. The moment I showed them the novels, several recognized the cover and exclaimed that they couldn't wait to read \"the story about someone like them.\" That kind of excitement and connection is exactly what I hoped for when I created this project.\r\n\r\n\r\nEl Deafo is not only engaging and visually accessible as a graphic novel—it also provides authentic representation of Deaf culture and the experiences of growing up with hearing loss. Having a full class set allows each student to follow along, annotate, and participate in meaningful discussions about identity, communication, and confidence.
