They have become shy this year and hearing the giggles as they experienced the kazoo for the first time has been the highlight of my year so far. My goal for these was to help my kids who didn't want to sing discover their voice in a very different way. We set up the kazoos and learned to play them last week, and we are learning the first note of the recorder this week. They are so excited that I have found a way to bring the kazoo into their Christmas play and are equally excited to learn all the same things their siblings know on recorder. \r\n\r\nI saw the impact of the recorder last year as students who hated music couldn't wait to be here. I am already seeing the same thing with my students in 3rd grade. The first question is do we get to play our instruments and can we keep them like the 5th graders did last year. When I have something that makes them as excited to come to music as they are when it is P.E. day, I know that I am on to something great. Thank you for your incredible generosity towards my music program.","fullyFundedDate":1752586422579,"projectUrl":"project/rocking-out-with-recorders-and-kazoos/9378668/","projectTitle":"Rocking Out with Recorders and Kazoos","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jessen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3061458_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533177329159","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3061458"},{"teacherId":9929266,"projectId":9125909,"letterContent":"My students were beyond excited to open up the boxes! It was like a Christmas gift to share with all their friends. They couldn't believe that kind and generous people gifted these items to our classroom. They wanted to send a huge thank you to you all. \r\nWe use the easel every day and multiple times per day. My students love being able to see posters and charts displayed on the easel from wherever they sit on the carpet. They enjoy coming up and writing on the easel as well!\r\nThe learning games are perfect for my students who finish their work early. They then get to choose a game or activity of their choice and of course they choose our new and exciting games! \r\nOur next project is to utilize the materials on a daily basis and continue to share the items. As we build our classroom, my students are able to have multiple opportunities to advance their learning through the hands on and interactive games! Thank you so much for helping out my students. Every time I bring out the recorders, the students light up with excitement—they genuinely look forward to music class.\r\n\r\nLearning to read music, staying actively engaged, and putting in focused effort have become part of their routine. The recorder has been a powerful tool in developing their musical skills and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nWhen I asked each class what they'd like to continue next year, learning the recorder was at the very top of their list. They're already asking to learn more songs and new notes.
