I feel that parents should not be allowed to make the decisions for every kid in the school. Many of the books from my list have been historically challenged or banned, and that is why I felt they were perfect for my literary studies class.\r\n\r\nWe are only into our second week of this course, but these books will allow for the use of literature circles within the class. Literature circles are designed to be student-led, and I can't wait to see them dig into the deeper themes of some of these texts. \r\n\r\nI chose these novels with the intent of enriching the minds of students, and I know that they will help them develop more empathy for those who are different than them. Being from a very small school, we don't have the most diverse student body. The more students read about difficult situations, the more they will realize how important it is to immerse themselves into the real world. We are so incredibly grateful for your donation.
