This entails the 8th graders taking books to elementary classrooms and spending half an hour reading one on one with a younger student. Your generous donation is allowing us to expand the project to K-2 and include all three feeder elementaries--in the past, we offered the program only to the closest elementary and grades 1-2. This is a program that died out with the pandemic. Reinstating it is a win for potentially 500 students...100+ 8th graders and up to 400 elementary students. \r\n\r\nAs the books arrive, I've witnessed 8th graders rediscovering the joy of reading, recalling memories from their elementary years. It has occasionally been a challenge to redirect them from rereading the books instead of counting and sorting them!
