These new resources have already made a huge impact on our students. We've begun a small group project where students rotate between instruments and learn basic chords, strumming patterns, and rhythm. One special moment was when a student who had never played before was able to strum a simple chord progression along with a song—his face lit up, and the whole group cheered him on. It was such a powerful reminder of how music builds confidence and community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the instruments, they were beyond excited. There were lots of \"wows\" and big smiles, and many of them immediately started asking questions about how to play. Even students who are usually more reserved were eager to try, and it created an instant buzz of curiosity and creativity in the room.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps are to build on these foundational skills and begin working toward a group performance. Students are currently practicing chords and simple songs, and we plan to have them collaborate in small bands using both the acoustic and electric guitar with the amp. Our goal is to have them perform for their families or at a school event, giving them a chance to showcase their hard work and growth. Your support is helping us inspire a lifelong love of music, and we truly appreciate the opportunities you've made possible for our students!","fullyFundedDate":1772405029587,"projectUrl":"project/rolling-gnomes-guitar-club/9867197/","projectTitle":"\"Rolling Gnomes\" Guitar Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeWitt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10337078"},{"teacherId":6892610,"projectId":9773544,"letterContent":"The kiddos were so excited to get their hands on a new style of learning. They loved the idea that they were able to do a group project that was both fun and challenging. It really peeked some interest in some of the kiddos who are less inclined to participate in regular classroom activities.\r\n Our first attempt at using the new games, really brought out some negative energy. I had kids who didn't want to share, some who didn't want to let others help...there were tears and hurt feelings. I even thought \"maybe this was a bad idea\" but then I also had to remember, ever since Covid, a lot of our kiddos have developed some learned helplessness. \r\n We took a break and discussed how things went and what we could have done better. How listening to each other and taking turns would have made a difference. We tried it again, and they did so much better! They LOVED it. I Highly recommend these games for every classroom because they really encourage a lot of problem solving! They show how there are sooo many ways to complete the task. The kids challenged themselves to complete their \"puzzle\" then change the tracks and complete it again!\r\n This was such a fun game to share with the kiddos, and it was a huge eye opener on some areas that we may need to help them improve in.
