As an elective course and voluntary club, our leadership program is made up of students who are motivated to make a positive impact on our school community. While many donors use technology at home, in our classroom, these tools are used to build real-world leadership skills such as communication, collaboration, and organization. The mobile laptop desk allows students to practice presentations and public speaking without relying on visual prompts from the board. This has helped students become more confident speakers and more prepared to lead meetings and events.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant to speak up have shown increased confidence using the new tools. Visual and hands-on learners have especially benefited from the dry-erase boards and easel paper, which allow them to brainstorm and problem-solve collaboratively. Some students who struggle with traditional classroom settings have thrived when given leadership tasks that involve planning, designing, and presenting. These tools have helped students discover strengths they didn't realize they had.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors, who have made it possible for students to develop skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758236484930,"projectUrl":"project/from-ideas-to-impact-tools-for-student/9706016/","projectTitle":"From Ideas to Impact: Tools for Student Leaders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pagay","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10254555"},{"teacherId":8823934,"projectId":9773936,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the opportunity to get another computer for our classroom. When our new resources arrived, my students' excitement was immediate. The rolling whiteboards quickly became the most popular tools in the classroom. During our first collaborative speaking activity, students eagerly gathered around the boards, moving them into small group spaces and taking charge of their learning.\r\n\r\nThese mobile whiteboards have transformed how we practice communication in our world language classroom. Instead of being limited to fixed spaces, students now rotate through interactive stations, build mini word walls during group tasks, and create visual supports for partners during speaking activities. In addition to freeing up the walls for a growing word wall and student displays, the rolling boards themselves took on a surprising new function: they became an ideal space to showcase student work samples and to post model examples for new activities. Being able to roll these boards to any part of the classroom means every group can easily reference expectations, sentence frames, or exemplary work while they collaborate. This has helped students feel more confident and supported as they practice new language skills.\r\n\r\nThe calligraphy pens and ink have made a meaningful difference for our Japanese 1 students. Previously, they relied on inexpensive felt-tip brush pens that often ran out of ink quickly or became damaged after just a few uses. Many students were having to replace their pens repeatedly, which was both frustrating and discouraging.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the new calligraphy pens, they were so excited. Several students commented that they had never used materials of this quality before. Knowing that these pens will last for years made them feel like they were working with real tools, tools worthy of the art they were creating. Their focus and pride during calligraphy practice has noticeably increased, and the classroom energy has been so positive.\r\n\r\nAn unexpected bonus is that these pens have sparked genuine enthusiasm for continuing their language studies. Many students have already said that using better materials has made them even more excited to take Japanese 2 next year. Your support has not only improved their learning experience but also strengthened their motivation and confidence as budding language learners.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students access to tools that make their learning more meaningful. Your generosity has supported their creativity, strengthened their skills, and helped them take pride in the work they produce. However, even with their limited knowledge, the students began to try to read the books. They asked if we could have reading time in the future and try reading aloud as a class. This seemingly simple piece of technology is far more than just a novelty; it is a powerful new tool in our mission to promote awareness of suicide prevention, mental health, anti-bullying, and emotional well-being within our school community. Photos are universally engaging, and by visually representing real experiences—moments of connection, acts of kindness, and expressions of resilience—these images make complex and often difficult topics relatable and easy for students to understand. Seeing tangible evidence of support and a healthy school environment encourages students to not only recognize signs of distress in themselves and their peers but also feel comfortable taking the crucial step of reaching out for help. This camera is opening up organic conversations, helping to reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges, and actively building empathy among peers, ultimately supporting the development of essential social-emotional skills in a healthier, safer school community.\r\n\r\nThe aspect of the new product that has excited our students the most is the instant, tangible nature of the prints. In a world dominated by digital screens and fleeting online content, the immediate appearance of a physical, unique photograph feels almost magical. This instant gratification and the physical object itself encourage a more mindful and present approach to capturing moments. Students love the idea of creating a \"Wall of Wellness\" or \"Kindness Corner\" using these prints—a collaborative, constantly evolving visual artifact of our school's commitment to positivity. The prints are already being used to create personalized \"Gratitude Cards\" for staff and peers, and the students enjoy the responsibility of deciding which moments are important enough to be instantly documented, fostering a sense of shared purpose and ownership over our positive messaging campaigns.\r\n\r\nWe have observed a particularly heartwarming response to this new technology from a few students who typically struggle with traditional forms of expression. Alex, a student who is often reserved and hesitant to speak in group settings, has naturally taken on the role of the camera's unofficial \"curator.\" They are meticulous about framing shots that capture genuine connection, like a shared laugh during a therapy session or two students helping each other with a locker. The camera provides Alex with a non-verbal, safe way to engage and highlight the positive interactions they observe, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the conversation around emotional well-being without the pressure of public speaking. Similarly, Maria, a student working on self-regulation and impulse control, finds the process of taking a photograph (aiming, waiting for the click, and patiently watching the image develop) to be a calming and grounding activity. The physical photo serves as a positive, tangible reminder of a moment she successfully navigated an interaction, giving her a concrete artifact to celebrate her progress and reinforcing the coping skills we are working on. This new tool is truly making a difference by giving all students, regardless of their communication style, a voice.","fullyFundedDate":1759126540125,"projectUrl":"project/capturing-connection-promoting-social-/9424295/","projectTitle":"\"Capturing Connection: Promoting Social-Emotional Learning Through Photography\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kimberly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9278525"},{"teacherId":8824328,"projectId":9772376,"letterContent":"Our project uses 3D printing filament and low-cost prototyping supplies (like popsicle sticks and glue) to transform abstract engineering lessons into tangible, hands-on experiences for our students. The 3D printer acts as provides substance to a digital creation. Students learned about digital design by creating their own custom key chains.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting element for students is the unprecedented creative control this technology provides. They aren't building a pre-packaged kit; they are the chief designers, able to bring their unique imaginations to life. We also teach them to balance high-tech with low-tech. Using popsicle sticks and glue allows them to fail quickly and cheaply to test basic structural ideas before committing to a final, precise 3D print. This blend of high-tech precision and fast, fearless prototyping perfectly mirrors the processes used in professional engineering firms.\r\n\r\nThis hands-on approach is a game-changer for engagement and equity. Students who might struggle with traditional written tests or lectures often thrive when given a visual and tactile outlet. By providing these tools, we ensure that every student has an active, engaging way to explore engineering and design their own future.","fullyFundedDate":1759194142891,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-student-creativity-through-3d/9772376/","projectTitle":"Empowering Student Creativity Through 3D Printing","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tochiki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8824328"},{"teacherId":10295829,"projectId":9781030,"letterContent":"The lateral filing cabinet from DonorsChoose has made our classroom more organized, secure, and efficient. That time is reserved for small-group instruction and one-on-one support for students. The cabinet's wide drawers also fit oversized visuals, graphic organizers, and manipulatives so students can self-serve from labeled sections, which builds their independence and keeps transitions calm. The new tables are absolutely critical for our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) activities.\r\n\r\nIn a high school environment, creating a safe space for open discussion is vital. The flexible tables allow us to quickly arrange a circle or a horseshoe shape, which is essential for our weekly SEL check-ins and restorative justice circles. These configurations promote eye contact, equal participation, and foster a sense of psychological safety that traditional rows simply cannot achieve. Just last week, we used the tables for a peer-to-peer discussion on [Specific SEL topic, e.g., 'managing stress during final exams' or 'building empathy'], and the open setup led to the most honest and impactful conversations we've had all year.\r\n\r\nSpecifically for SEL, the tables will facilitate our new mentorship program, where seniors will meet with freshmen in small, table-based groups to discuss school success and navigating challenges.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and for providing the tools necessary to support both their academic achievement and their emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nWith sincere gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1750774705960,"projectUrl":"project/empower-students-fund-folding-tables-fo/9424032/","projectTitle":"Empower Students: Fund Folding Tables for Mental Health Events!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kimberly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9278525"},{"teacherId":9166886,"projectId":9217201,"letterContent":"The Otter Pop donation has brought a memorable moment to our student birthday celebrations, creating joy and inclusivity that resonate throughout the school.
