They constructed different types of ramps or \"slopes\" with varying degrees of steepness. Using rulers, students measured the vertical rise and the horizontal run of their slopes. Then, by placing these measurements in the \"rise over run\" format, they were able to see how slope is represented as a fraction and how it changes depending on the steepness of the slope. \r\n\r\nUsing manipulatives has greatly helped students conceptualize math concepts by making abstract ideas more concrete and hands-on. Tools like MagnaTiles, rulers, and other physical objects allow students to visualize and physically explore mathematical relationships, such as slope. This hands-on approach supports deeper understanding and helps students make meaningful connections between what they see, do, and learn.","fullyFundedDate":1742155819281,"projectUrl":"project/math-enrichment-more/9157642/","projectTitle":"Math Enrichment & More","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kumu Lina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7931734"},{"teacherId":7931734,"projectId":8892822,"letterContent":"Through the craft materials, games, and snacks, my students have been able to build pilina with one another.
