We made it a class activity to open and explore each set we received. Other teachers and grade levels even expressed excitement to see what we got and how we would use it.\r\n We started building using the stem kits and in every moment of free time my kids would want to help assemble one of the activities. Once they were together, we were able to talk about why it worked and what would change it. The kids really loved creating the ferris wheel, and they figured out how switches work to complete circuits. \r\n One of the most memorable moments came from our solar powered pieces. My students and I have talked about heat from the sun being energy,but some were skeptic. When we put together the color panels on the toy flowers, they were so surprised to see them move! One girl even stood in front of it to block the sun and saw the machine stop. \r\n These tools have greatly elevated my class' learning and sparked a lot of excitement and curiosity for the world around them. Several other classes have requested to borrow some of the sets themselves to enhance their instruction too.\r\n Thank you so much for this blessing.","fullyFundedDate":1733232886061,"projectUrl":"project/stem-discovery/8790417/","projectTitle":"STEM Discovery","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McComas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9752488"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_50601","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":184,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":71,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"7.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":50601,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Taliaferro County School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Taliaferro County School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/taliaferro-county-school-district/taliaferro-county-school/50601"}
