They learned how to analyze costs, set pricing strategies, and navigate customer interactions—all essential skills for aspiring entrepreneurs.\r\n In addition to these practical lessons, the project also provided them with valuable mathematical skills. They learned how to graph data, create charts, and comprehend linear equations, all of which are vital for interpreting market trends and making informed business decisions. \r\n Thank you once again for believing in these students from the Alternative Center and for providing them with access to higher-level learning. Many of our donors use technology in their daily lives, but seeing how an iPad can empower students inside—and outside—the classroom has been incredibly inspiring.\r\n\r\nHow the technology is helping students learn:\r\nThe iPad has become a powerful learning tool that bridges research, creativity, and real-world action. Students use it to investigate local environmental concerns, gather and organize data, and document their findings through photos and videos. What once would have been simple note-taking is now hands-on inquiry: students compare data across cleanup sites, analyze patterns in litter and recycling habits, and create digital presentations to share their conclusions. The technology allows them to see themselves not just as learners, but as problem-solvers and community leaders.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new product:\r\nWhat thrills them most is the ability to make their work visible and impactful. Recording educational videos, designing digital posters, and creating awareness campaigns feels meaningful because they know their voices are being heard beyond the classroom. The iPad gives them creative freedom—students love experimenting with editing tools, layout designs, and video effects to make their message compelling. They're not just completing assignments; they're producing real content that can inspire change in Hephzibah.\r\n\r\nStudents who have especially warmed to the technology:\r\nSeveral students who are usually quiet in class have really come alive with this project. One student, who often hesitated to speak during discussions, discovered a talent for video editing and has taken the lead in producing our educational clips. Another student, who struggled with traditional writing tasks, now uses the iPad's voice-to-text and design apps to create polished digital posters that beautifully communicate environmental messages. The technology has given them new avenues to shine and contribute their strengths to the group.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students see themselves as environmental stewards, digital creators, and united members of their community. Your support has not only enriched their learning—it has empowered them to make a difference. Thank you for helping them believe in the impact they can have.","fullyFundedDate":1764620823571,"projectUrl":"project/iprotect-the-planet-environmental-chang/9862436/","projectTitle":"iProtect the Planet: Environmental Change Through Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Roberts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10223646"},{"teacherId":9758437,"projectId":9779161,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our \"Stretch & Reflect: Student Wellness Through Movement, Mindfulness, and Calm\" project has brought a new sense of peace, comfort, and focus into our classroom. The moment the students walked in and saw the bean bag chairs, yoga mats, and weighted animals, their eyes widened and their entire energy shifted. Several students immediately asked, \"Is this really for us?\" and many rushed to try out the mats or settle into the soft bean bags. The weighted animals quickly became classroom favorites—they've become calming companions during tough moments or transitions.\r\nWe have already begun incorporating these resources into our wellness routines. Students start their mornings with gentle stretches on the yoga mats, followed by a short breathing exercise using the weighted animals to help them feel grounded. During independent reading and cool-down periods, students choose a bean bag chair or a mat, allowing them to regulate their emotions and re-enter learning with a calmer mindset. My students' faces lit up—they could hardly believe these were their machines to use for a real school-wide service project. Several students even said, \"We get to run this for REAL?\" and gathered around instantly, eager to learn how everything worked.\r\nWe immediately began using the machines to prepare slushies for our school's hunger-awareness campaign. Students have been practicing measuring, mixing, timing, customer service skills, and even basic money management as they prepare to serve slushies to students and staff. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students work together to troubleshoot the freeze setting—not only did they figure it out, but they also high-fived afterward because they felt like \"real entrepreneurs.\"\r\nThis project has given them hands-on experience that connects learning to real-world purpose.
