It has certainly brought lots of excitement to our library time! As soon as it arrived and was unrolled, I had a 5th grade student that came to check it out \"just to make sure it was comfy.\" He didn't just sit on it; he stretched out and rolled around a bit! He definitely gave his approval! He also told others about it because they all wanted to come check it out.\r\n This rug is huge and has enough room for an entire class. Each student can sit on a colorful smiley face and have their own personal space. Our pre-K through second grade students have enjoyed several stories as they've visited the library each week. I feel like this rug helps bring us all together as we embark a new adventure each week!\r\n My younger students typically visit me weekly for story time, but upper grades have a harder time with their schedules. I've been able to bring third grade in for a story and then a lesson on how and where to pick out appropriate books for their reading level. The rug was a big hit with them! My plan is to get our 4th and 5th graders in to do something similar so that they have a chance to experience the rug as well. \r\n Students take pride in our new rug and try to help me keep it clean. I've vacuumed it religiously because I want it to hold up. I know this rug is going to be a valuable asset in our media center for many years to come! The students could hardly wait to unbox them. I'll never forget the squeals as I opened each item —it was pure joy! They wanted to use each item right away. I allowed my students to help pack our new items into the STEM bins. \r\n\r\nThanks to your generous donations, every one of my students now has their own STEM activity to explore! Before, we often had to share materials, but now each child can dive in, experiment, and create independently. I even have enough materials to have extra items to use as incentives for positive behavior or to use during indoor recess. For example, the Marble Run STEM activity is a top choice for indoor recess. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I'm excited to continue using these STEM resources for our \"soft start\" mornings. It is the perfect way to start the day. I owe this success to all you wonderful donors.
