As I began this school year, I knew how important it would be to place the right books in my students' hands. What I did not anticipate was just how quickly these new texts would shape our daily learning and ignite genuine excitement for reading.\r\n\r\nThe books you provided allow us to introduce a wide range of essential literacy skills in developmentally meaningful ways. Students are practicing foundational strategies like decoding and fluency, but they are also learning how to ask questions, make predictions, identify story structure, and connect what they read to their own lives. Having a variety of genres means we can explore nonfiction text features one moment and build rich vocabulary through poetry or fairy tales the next. These books serve as the anchor for mini-lessons, small-group instruction, and independent reading time, giving students daily opportunities to grow.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is joyful and hands-on. Every day, students have the opportunity to browse the shelves, settle into cozy corners, and choose books that match their reading levels and curiosity. We also have small group \"book talks,\" partner reading sessions, and moments when the entire room falls into that magical hush as we begin a new class read-aloud. Perhaps most meaningful, the books are not confined to our classroom. Students eagerly check them out to take home, proudly sharing them with siblings, parents, and grandparents.\r\n\r\nSeveral students in particular have blossomed because of this project. One student who once primarily gravitated toward picture books has started bringing home early chapter books while another has found a new series that they are eagerly reading their way through. A multilingual learner in our class has found comfort and confidence in illustrated nonfiction texts that allow them to access content visually while building vocabulary and supporting their reading journey. Moments like these remind me every day that the right book can change a child's relationship with reading.\r\n\r\nYour support has made all of this possible. You didn't just help us build a library; you helped us build readers who are curious, confident, and eager to explore new worlds through books. Thank you for investing in my students' growth both in and out of the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755740724742,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-the-next-generation-of-readers/9331176/","projectTitle":"Inspiring the Next Generation of Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sanger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9558005_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717287729530","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9558005"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42386","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":546,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.9,"schoolId":42386,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/hall-county-school-district/wauka-mountain-elementary-school/42386"}
