The students were super happy to have even more recent and diverse books on the shelves. I use these books for our free choice reading. Students are given an opportunity to choose what they want to read. There are no assignments or grades tied to these choices because the main goal is just to get the students not only reading, but enjoying to read. \r\n\r\nWe do often have discussions about the books they are reading and I might give them a topic or a theme to discuss in order to get the conversation moving. We try to make connections to their lives so they can truly connect with what they are reading. \r\n\r\nI want my students to be comfortable when they read, so they are given the choice of where to sit in the classroom. The students are definitely enjoying these books!","fullyFundedDate":1752357349540,"projectUrl":"project/the-art-of-influence-equipping-ap-stude/9410658/","projectTitle":"The Art of Influence: Equipping AP Students with Powerful Texts","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2709379_orig.jpg?crop=2464,2464,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665709731407","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/johnsonenglish"},{"teacherId":10180261,"projectId":9607003,"letterContent":"Thank you Jalonda Thompson (NC), Simone Stewart(TN), and Judith Rubin (CA) for being a part of the DonorsChoose Community and for your thoughtful donation toward the purchase of games for My Advisement students. The students are taking time away from electronics and engaging with each other more than ever with through these wonderful, interactive games! Your support has truly made a positive impact. \r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the games, some appeared excited while others seemed nonchalant; however, that has changed. Daily, they look forward to playing Uno, Jenga and the other games. Interestingly, they seem to be building stronger bonds as they to turn to the games as form of interpersonal engagement and de-stressing. In addition, after state assessments last week, one of my students asked to borrow games to take to her Advisement class to decompress. \r\n\r\nAs students engage in the games, they learn more about each other's personalities and enjoy many lighthearted moments. The laughter, word play, and jokes are a joy. \r\n\r\nThis was my very first project on DonorsChoose, and I am grateful for your kind support. I have always loved using flexible seating and I wanted to give my students the opportunity to use it this year and hopefully years to come. \r\n\r\nWith the outdoor seating I was able to create a little nook that will allow students to sit who needs to make-up work, who just want to a quiet place, or students who I want to work with in a small group. The yoga balls also work well in this area because they fit around the table. \r\n\r\nMy students' favorite though has to be the bean bags. They have done such a great job at taking turns every day and they love to sit here to complete their work and read. The lap desks work well with the bean bags and the outdoor seating. \r\n\r\nThank you again for bringing this joy into my classroom! It supports a more interactive and engaging classroom environment by allowing students to access a wide variety of educational apps, digital textbooks, and visual learning tools. Whether we're using graphing calculator, Geometry apps, or collaborative platforms like Google classroom, the iPad allows students to explore mathematical concepts dynamic and personalized ways.\r\n\r\n What excites my students the most about using the iPad is the level of autonomy and creativity it offers. They enjoy being able to take ownership of their learning-using tools like digital whiteboards to work through problems, recording themselves explaining concepts, or using interactive simulation to see abstract ideas come to life. The iPad makes learning feel more modern, relevant, and connected to their everyday experiences.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who typically struggle with traditional methods of instruction have shown remarkable growth and confidence when using the iPad. For instance, one student who is usually quiet and hesitant to participate has because much more engaged through the use of drawing tools and math games that allow him to express understanding without the pressure of speaking in front of the class. Others with organizational challenges are benefiting from the iPad's ability to help them stay on top of assignments and notes digitally. \r\n\r\nOverall, the iPad is helping bridge learning gaps, spark enthusiasm, and empower students to take an active role in their education.","fullyFundedDate":1727043030587,"projectUrl":"project/teaching-using-21-century-technology/8722746/","projectTitle":"Teaching Using 21 Century Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stewart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9716286"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69388","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":3627,"numTeachers":166,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":57,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.9,"schoolId":69388,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Grayson High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Grayson High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/gwinnett-county-public-schools/grayson-high-school/69388"}
