My students were struggling this year with their sight words, and part of this project went directly towards small group and independent practice with sight word building. They were absolutely over the moon about the decoding whiteboard paddles, and I used them with every group repeatedly! I can't wait to introduce them earlier in the year with the next group of kindergarteners. Additionally, the decodable books made a huge difference with some of my struggling readers. It's so difficult to find texts that actually align to the skills we are targeting, but these books were perfect!\r\nSince this project was completed so close to the end of the year, my students didn't have a ton of time to interact with the materials. However, I have already started working on lesson plans for this fall, with a new group of students who will undoubtedly receive the full benefit of these resources. The ability to interact with words and letters in a hands-on way is so beneficial to students, and the word building sets in this project are perfect to support that!\r\nThank you again to everyone who contributed to this project, and I am eternally grateful for the kindness of the community.","fullyFundedDate":1740081257110,"projectUrl":"project/the-science-of-donating-to-early-readers/9004391/","projectTitle":"The Science of Donating to Early Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Calhoun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7869238_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y383&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739895018713","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7869238"},{"teacherId":9871824,"projectId":9088610,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of magnetic dry erase boards to my English Learner classroom. Your contribution has truly made a difference in the lives of my students, and I want to share the impact it has had on their learning journey.\r\n\r\nEvery day, I use these boards in small group reading sessions with my 2nd, 4th, and 5th-grade students. The versatility of the boards allows us to engage in various activities, such as sound mapping, word chains, sentence dictation, and word building with magnetic letters. These hands-on exercises provide an interactive way for students to practice and reinforce their skills, which has been invaluable in helping them develop both their reading and writing abilities.\r\n\r\nThe ability to manipulate letters and see the words take shape on the board has greatly enhanced their understanding of phonics, spelling patterns, and sentence structure. These activities are not only educational but also exciting for the students, making learning more engaging and fun. The visual and tactile nature of the boards allows my English learners to better grasp concepts that might otherwise be challenging, and it has been a pleasure to witness their growth.\r\n\r\nYour support has played a crucial role in creating a more dynamic and effective learning environment. The students are now more confident and motivated to explore new language skills, and I truly believe that these tools are helping them achieve greater success.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity. Your donation is making a lasting impact on my students' education, and I am incredibly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1738962029872,"projectUrl":"project/small-group-supplies-for-word-building-i/9088610/","projectTitle":"Small Group Supplies for Word Building in ESOL!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mills","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9871824_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734434917749","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9871824"},{"teacherId":9871824,"projectId":9002486,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the generous donation that allowed me to acquire the Lakeshore Learning Easel for my English Learning classroom. This wonderful tool has made an incredible difference in my teaching, and I wanted to share how it has positively impacted my students' learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThe easel has become an essential part of our daily classroom activities. I use it multiple times a day across all grade levels, making it an integral part of our lessons. It has been especially helpful for word building exercises. The clear visibility and versatile design allow me to display words and phrases in ways that engage all my students, making it easier for them to understand language concepts and build their vocabulary.\r\n\r\nIn addition to word building, the easel has been invaluable in small group and whole group lessons. Whether we are focusing on grammar, syntax, or reading comprehension, the easel offers a dynamic, interactive space where students can participate, share their ideas, and see examples up close. This hands-on experience helps foster a deeper understanding of the material and encourages active participation, which is vital in an English learning classroom.\r\n\r\nThe easel has also served as an interactive reading station, where students can take turns reading aloud, discuss passages, and practice fluency. It has created an engaging environment that encourages collaborative learning and supports students at different levels of language acquisition. The ability to easily move and adjust the easel has also made it an ideal tool for transitioning between activities and creating a flexible, student-centered learning space.\r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for your support. The Lakeshore Learning Easel has made a tangible difference in my students' English language development, and I see their confidence growing every day. It's an investment that truly enhances their educational experience, and I am deeply grateful for it.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your generosity and for making this classroom resource possible.","fullyFundedDate":1734548393256,"projectUrl":"project/esol-teacher-in-need-of-a-large-easel/9002486/","projectTitle":"ESOL Teacher in Need of a Large Easel!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mills","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9871824_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734434917749","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9871824"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61067","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":607,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":50,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":61067,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New Prospect Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New Prospect Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/fulton-county-school-district/new-prospect-elementary-school/61067"}
