Your contribution has made a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment, and I wanted to share just how impactful your donation has been.\r\nThe headphones with microphones have become an essential part of our day-to-day instruction. My students use them constantly—during reading activities, speaking practice, language development exercises, and interactive computer tasks. For many of my ESOL students, these tools have given them the confidence to practice speaking in a safe, focused way while also allowing them to hear content clearly without distraction. These headphones have truly elevated the quality of their learning experience.\r\nYour support of our Blooket account has been equally transformative. We use Blooket at least twice a week, and it has become one of the students' favorite parts of class. Through engaging, game-based activities, students practice key skills such as:\r\n\r\n-Building vocabulary\r\n-Forming plural nouns\r\n-Distinguishing fact from opinion\r\n-Reviewing content-area concepts\r\n\r\nWhat has been remarkable is how this platform has allowed me to blend their love of computer games with essential academic standards. Students are excited, motivated, and fully immersed in learning—often forgetting they are practicing rigorous language and literacy skills because they're having so much fun.\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom has become an exciting, fun, and challenging learning environment that students genuinely look forward to each day. You have helped create a space where learning feels joyful and empowering, and for that, I am deeply grateful.\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and supporting their educational journey. My students were struggling this year with their sight words, and part of this project went directly towards small group and independent practice with sight word building. They were absolutely over the moon about the decoding whiteboard paddles, and I used them with every group repeatedly! I can't wait to introduce them earlier in the year with the next group of kindergarteners. Additionally, the decodable books made a huge difference with some of my struggling readers. It's so difficult to find texts that actually align to the skills we are targeting, but these books were perfect!\r\nSince this project was completed so close to the end of the year, my students didn't have a ton of time to interact with the materials. However, I have already started working on lesson plans for this fall, with a new group of students who will undoubtedly receive the full benefit of these resources. The ability to interact with words and letters in a hands-on way is so beneficial to students, and the word building sets in this project are perfect to support that!\r\nThank you again to everyone who contributed to this project, and I am eternally grateful for the kindness of the community.","fullyFundedDate":1740081257110,"projectUrl":"project/the-science-of-donating-to-early-readers/9004391/","projectTitle":"The Science of Donating to Early Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Calhoun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7869238_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y383&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739895018713","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7869238"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61067","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":607,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":50,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":61067,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New Prospect Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New Prospect Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/fulton-county-school-district/new-prospect-elementary-school/61067"}
