I wanted to reach out and tell you that this spark is entirely thanks to your incredible gift of Kindle Fires to our room.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, the energy in the room was like a holiday morning. For many of my students, technology at home is for watching videos or playing games. You've shown them that these devices are actually powerful tools for creation. They aren't just \"using tablets\"; they are directors, scientists, and editors.\r\n\r\nOur first project was a deep dive into why we have seasons. Watching them work was fascinating—they had to carefully model the tilt of the Earth and its position around the sun, frame by frame. It turned a difficult, abstract concept into something they could literally hold in their hands.\r\n\r\nI especially wanted to share the impact this has had on my ESOL students. For a child still learning English, a blank page for a science report can feel like a wall they can't climb. But with these Kindles, that wall disappeared. They were able to show me exactly what they knew about the Earth's axis through pictures and movement. One of my students, who is usually very quiet, spent the whole afternoon beaming because he could finally \"explain\" his knowledge without stumbling over a vocabulary word.\r\n\r\nThe kids are already brainstorming how to use stop motion for our upcoming unit on the rock cycle (they're very excited about \"melting\" play-dough for the igneous phase!).\r\n\r\nThank you for seeing the potential in my students and for giving them a way to express their brilliance. You haven't just given us technology; you've given my students a brand-new way to speak to the world.","fullyFundedDate":1763764731305,"projectUrl":"project/lights-camera-stop-motion/9523047/","projectTitle":"Lights, Camera, Stop Motion!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Warr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10105120"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_49292","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1062,"numTeachers":89,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.7,"schoolId":49292,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Otwell Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Otwell Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/forsyth-county-school-district/otwell-middle-school/49292"}
