These resources have truly brought so much joy, comfort, and excitement into our classroom. When the pillows first arrived, I couldn't wait to surprise my students! I carefully arranged them in our classroom before they arrived that morning, and the excitement on their faces when they walked through the door was absolutely priceless. They were thrilled to have comfortable seating options that they could call their own. Since then, the pillows have become a favorite part of our classroom! Students love using them while reading books, sitting closer to the board for a better view, playing Jenga with classmates during indoor recess, and even enjoying an occasional classroom movie. What makes me even prouder is seeing how responsibly they care for these resources, take turns, and make sure everyone has a chance to enjoy them.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the pillows, the fidgets and snacks have been wonderful additions to our classroom. My students were equally excited to receive these items, and they have provided extra encouragement and motivation throughout our school day. The fidgets have been especially helpful for students who benefit from having something to keep their hands busy while staying focused on instruction, while the snacks provide a little extra comfort and encouragement when needed. Since incorporating these resources, I have noticed wonderful growth in student engagement, participation, and overall classroom morale. Seeing students excited to learn, work toward their goals, and take pride in their accomplishments reminds me why a supportive, welcoming classroom environment matters. These materials may seem like small things to some, but to my students, they have made a meaningful difference in how they experience school each day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, my goal is to build upon the excitement, responsibility, and academic growth these resources have helped encourage. We plan to keep incorporating flexible seating into independent reading, small-group activities, collaborative learning, and other classroom experiences that help students feel comfortable while staying engaged. These kits really grew their need to learn to read and write. \r\n\r\nThe sentence starters acted as a \"springboard\" that gets students' pencils moving, eliminating the fear of starting and allowing them to focus on sharing ideas. With your donation, we were able to purchase a Chompsaw, a child-safe, electric cutting tool. As you can see from the photos, the children absolutely love using the Chompsaw to cut out shapes from cardboard, and it has really supplemented our Science and Art curriculums.\r\n\r\nWe had already started doing animal research, and the children are now so excited to use the Chompsaw to create the animal that they are researching. The children first plan and draw their design on paper. Next, they enlarge their design on cardboard and cut it out using the Chompsaw, which requires patience and eye-hand coordination. Then, the children paint or color their model to add its features. Last, the children present their research to the class and share their 2- or 3-dimensional model. They really enjoy this process and feel so proud displaying their creations in the classroom or at home.\r\n\r\nThe Chompsaw has allowed us to use technology to extend the learning about animals and 2-D and 3-D forms, as well as practice patience and eye-hand coordination in the process of cutting out the shapes. At the same time, the children have learned to be ecologically minded as they reuse boxes that normally get recycled or thrown away. \r\n\r\nNext, we plan on using the Chompsaw to research and build other items, such as vehicles or structures. The Chompsaw is truly a tool that will impact our classroom for years to come.
