The calculators have allowed students to\r\n focus on problem solving and reasoning instead of getting stuck on basic computation, especially during geometry applications and multi step problems. Having consistent access to calculators has also reduced anxiety for students who struggle with confidence in math.\r\n\r\nThe cardstock, loose leaf paper, markers, and hole punch have helped me create organized interactive notes, anchor charts, and student created visuals that stay up on our walls for reference. Students are no longer just copying notes. They are building, labeling, \r\nand explaining math concepts in a way that sticks. Our word wall and student posters \r\nare now tools students actively use during lessons and assessments.\r\n\r\nThe printer has been a huge support for daily instruction, allowing me to print guided notes, practice sets, and visuals on demand. By immersing students in interactive 3D environments, VR brings abstract and complex concepts to life in ways that traditional methods often cannot.\r\n\r\nIn algebra, VR allows students to visualize equations, graphs, and functions in three-dimensional space. They can manipulate variables and instantly see how changes affect a graph, which strengthens conceptual understanding and supports students who may struggle with symbolic representation alone. This hands-on, immersive experience helps students make real-world connections to algebraic thinking.\r\n\r\nIn geometry, VR is especially impactful. Students can walk through geometric shapes, explore angles and planes, and physically interact with 3D models. This spatial interaction deepens understanding of concepts like congruency, similarity, symmetry, and volume. Students grasp how geometric principles apply in architecture, engineering, and design, making learning more relevant and engaging.\r\n\r\nFor anatomy, VR headsets provide students with an inside look at the human body. They can examine organs, systems, and tissues in great detail, rotate structures, and even simulate dissections—all without the need for physical specimens. This not only enhances comprehension but also builds empathy and curiosity, particularly for students interested in health sciences.","fullyFundedDate":1733501967057,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-stem-to-life-with-virtual-reali/8981398/","projectTitle":"Bringing STEM to Life with Virtual Reality!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Nicole (Reese) Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9851768_orig.jpg?crop=432,432,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733150538709","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9851768"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42842","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1359,"numTeachers":71,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":72,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.1,"schoolId":42842,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riverdale High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Riverdale High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/clayton-county-public-schools/riverdale-high-school/42842"}
