The moment they saw the microscopes, slides, and lab tools, their eyes lit up. Many had never used real scientific equipment before. They were eager to get started and couldn't wait to see what their own cells looked like under the microscope.\r\n\r\nDuring the lab, students collected and prepared their own cheek cell samples, then took turns viewing them up close. The room was full of energy as scholars gasped and laughed in amazement, saying things like, \"I can see them!\" and \"Those are my cells!\" Seeing organelles like the nucleus and cell membrane in real life helped students connect what they had learned in class to something tangible. It turned an abstract lesson into a meaningful, hands-on experience that made science feel personal and exciting.\r\n\r\nThanks to this generous funding, my students now feel like real scientists. This lab has sparked deeper interest in exploring how living things are built and how cells function together. Our next step will be to compare plant and animal cells, using the same microscopes to identify similarities and differences in their structures. Your support has opened the door to authentic discovery in our classroom, and my students can't wait to keep exploring!","fullyFundedDate":1754926570567,"projectUrl":"project/science-starts-with-me-a-cell-lab-exper/9479455/","projectTitle":"Science Starts With Me! The laminator, printer, and iPads and markers have truly changed the way my students are learning each day. The technology is helping in so many ways. In Social Studies, laminated maps and graphic organizers give students the chance to practice over and over again without materials wearing out. In ELA, printed reading passages and writing supports let me meet students exactly where they are, while laminated vocabulary cards and charts help them hold on to key concepts. The iPads bring lessons to life through interactive apps, digital texts, and tools that boost both comprehension and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most are the iPads. They love exploring interactive geography activities, reading digital stories, and even recording themselves to practice fluency. The sense of ownership they feel when using the iPads makes them eager to participate and proud of their progress.I've also seen certain students really blossom with this technology. One of my reluctant readers has begun recording herself reading passages and listening back to measure her own growth, which has built her confidence tremendously. Another student who loves maps now uses the iPad to trace and label regions, and it has made him more engaged in class discussions. Your gift has made a lasting impact. Thank you for believing in my students and giving them the tools to learn in ways that truly inspire them.","fullyFundedDate":1746786342843,"projectUrl":"project/help-learning-take-flight/9089281/","projectTitle":"Help Learning Take Flight!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bynoe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9912586"},{"teacherId":8938536,"projectId":9141774,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for making this project possible. The new resources have already made a huge difference in my classroom and in my students' learning.\r\n\r\nMy students and I have been using the materials during small-group instruction and hands-on activities. For example, we recently worked on a project where students solved real-world math problems using the new manipulatives. One group proudly explained how the tools helped them \"see\" multiplication and division in a whole new way. It was a powerful moment because students who usually shy away from math felt confident enough to lead the discussion.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students' excitement was priceless. Their eyes lit up, and many of them couldn't wait to touch and explore everything right away. One scholar even said, \"Now I feel like a real mathematician!\"\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are more engaged and motivated than ever. Our next step is to build on this momentum by applying these resources to more complex projects, like multi-step problem solving and collaborative group challenges. These activities will allow them not only to strengthen academic skills, but also to grow in teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nYour support gave my students more than just materials—you gave them confidence, joy, and a deeper love for learning. Your donation has significantly and immediately impacted teaching and learning in my classroom. These iPads have transformed how we engage with literacy, writing, and independent learning, especially for students in our Special Education program who benefit from differentiated instruction and assistive technology.\r\n\r\nThe iPads have become powerful tools for building independence and confidence. Students now access learning platforms like i-Ready, Lexia, and Google Classroom more efficiently, allowing them to receive real-time feedback, practice targeted skills, and track their progress. We've also used them during small group rotations, where scholars record themselves reading aloud, annotate texts using interactive tools, and explore vocabulary through immersive apps. For many of my students, learning has become more personalized and interactive, which has increased both engagement and achievement.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project has been watching reluctant learners begin to shine. A scholar who once struggled to stay engaged during reading time now looks forward to using the iPad for guided reading practice and voice-to-text writing tools. Another student, who receives speech services, uses the iPad's accessibility features to build communication skills and participate more fully in classroom discussions. These moments of growth would not have been possible without your support. Your generosity has made an incredible impact on my students, and I wanted to take a moment to share just how much your donation has meant to us.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room was undeniable when my students first saw the new supplies. Their eyes lit up as they unpacked the mixing bowls, measuring cups, and baking ingredients, eager to put them to use. One student even said, \"This is like being on a real cooking show!\" With your help, we've already started exploring different baking techniques, and the students are developing valuable life skills while building confidence in the kitchen.\r\n\r\nOne of our first projects was making homemade ice cream from scratch. Many students had never worked on this before, so watching the ice cream freeze in minutes was like magic to them! As we shook our bags, we discussed the science behind baking and how precise measurements affect the final product. Seeing their pride when they was able to make real ice cream cones, was amazing.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to dive into pastry-making, experimenting with pie crusts and fillings. We're also working on a special community project where students will bake treats to share with teachers and staff as a thank-you for all they do. These experiences wouldn't be possible without your kindness and generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and giving them the tools to explore their creativity, learn practical skills, and experience the joy of baking.
