Your gift has had a meaningful impact on my fifth-grade classroom.\r\n\r\n'Wonder' provided an engaging way to review many of the concepts taught throughout the year before state testing. Students practiced identifying themes, analyzing character development, comparing and contrasting perspectives, and determining the author's message. Beyond academic skills, the novel sparked important conversations about empathy, kindness, acceptance, and the impact our words and actions have on others. All important lessons for my students as they move on to middle school.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom takes many different forms. Students listened to audiobooks or teacher-read-alouds to hear what fluent, expressive reading sounds like. They also participated in whole-group reading and discussions, sharing ideas and learning from one another's perspectives. Students then revisit the text in small groups or independently to complete activities that deepen their understanding and encourage them to think critically about what they have read.\r\n\r\nThroughout the school year, I shared the first three 'Harry Potter' books as read-alouds, creating a shared experience that sparked imagination and encouraged a love of reading among my students. Students were allowed to choose what we would read next, and each time they eagerly voted to continue the series. Being able to give each student their own copy of the fourth book was especially meaningful to me. I hope that this gift will allow them to continue their reading journey over the summer and into middle school, carrying with them the joy of reading that we have shared throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students. Your kindness has enriched our classroom and placed wonderful books into the hands of young readers who will benefit from them for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1773861193225,"projectUrl":"project/the-magic-of-reading/10146357/","projectTitle":"The Magic of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Betau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9572365_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721584612234","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9572365"},{"teacherId":9572365,"projectId":9454363,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. Your contributions have had a meaningful impact on both the organization and functionality of our learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe items you provided have helped create a space that is not only well-organized but also more accessible for every student. After some initial trial and error, we've developed a system that works beautifully for our class. Each student now has an individual \"locker\" to store their folders and notebooks for each subject. Our color-coded system makes it easy for students to quickly find what they need for their morning and afternoon classes.\r\n\r\nThe new mailbox system has streamlined communication, allowing me to return papers and distribute important information efficiently. In addition, the storage boxes have made it possible to neatly organize classroom supplies, keeping materials within reach whenever they're needed.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created a more positive, productive environment for learning. The students take great pride in their space, and it has helped foster independence and responsibility in their routines.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and for investing in our students' success.
