My students were absolutely thrilled when they walked in and saw it! On the first day, each student got a turn using it and we talked about how the swing can help us calm our bodies down when we have too much energy or we are upset. \r\n\r\nHaving access to this swing has been a useful intervention for preventing meltdowns, as we are able to provide students with calming sensory input before they get overwhelmed. Because it is so popular, it has also been a useful tool for teaching turn taking, waiting, and sharing. It has also been beneficial for practicing important core vocabulary such as \"more\", \"want\", \"all done\", etc. for our students with limited communication skills. In the upcoming year, it will serve as a way to provide sensory input for those same needs, as well as supporting students with dual sensory impairments (vision and hearing impaired) to gain sensory input in ways that are accessible to them.
