We chose this story because it doesn't pull any punches; it speaks so powerfully to truth, courage, and the messy, important bonds of family and friendship. These are exactly the kinds of lessons we want our students to carry with them long after they turn the final page.\r\n\r\nThrough our \"One Book One School\" initiative, we're doing something pretty special: the entire school is reading this book together. Whether it's a math teacher or a gym coach, every adult is reading a portion of the story, creating a shared language across the whole building. It's been incredible for building a real community of readers.\r\n\r\nWe're also taking the story out of the English classroom and into every subject. In Science, students are diving into the physics of lightning and conductors, and in our Social-Emotional sessions, we're using the plot to have real, honest conversations about bullying.\r\n\r\nYour generosity allowed us to get a copy into the hands of every single student, including Spanish versions for our monolingual readers. These classic novels give students meaningful opportunities to practice essential reading skills such as analyzing character development, identifying themes, exploring symbolism, and comparing different fantasy worlds and authors' styles. We use these texts to discuss perseverance, imagination, courage, and belonging, helping students connect literature to their own lives while strengthening comprehension and critical-thinking skills.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is now a vibrant, shared experience. Students read in small groups, aloud with partners, and independently, followed by conversations, journaling, and creative responses. The availability of full class sets means every student holds their own copy instead of sharing or reading from a screen, which is something everyone benefits from. Several reluctant readers, in particular, have become some of our most engaged voices during discussions. One student who rarely volunteered now leads conversations about theme and figurative language in Narnia, while another has started reading ahead at home because she \"didn't want the adventure to stop.\"\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided books, it has helped build confidence, joy, and a stronger reading community in our classroom. These stories are becoming part of our students' memories and identities as readers, and that impact will last far beyond this school year. Thank you for believing in our students and in the power of great literature.","fullyFundedDate":1744208561572,"projectUrl":"project/classics-in-the-classroom-bringing-lite/9091588/","projectTitle":"Classics in the Classroom: Bringing Literary Masterpieces Back","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Powell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7843989_orig.jpg?crop=1438,1438,x0,y210&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1620141910850","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7843989"},{"teacherId":8485004,"projectId":9246737,"letterContent":"Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
