Our students at Independence Classical Academy were surprised when they first saw the owl pellets! The 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students were so excited to engage in dissecting them. Many of the students have never had the opportunity to use the dissecting tools and have never experienced a dissection before. Thank you for making this a possibility. \r\n\r\nOur Biology students are working through a unit on the human body systems currently. This lab activity is a great Segway into the skeletal system. I had them keep the bones they pulled out of the owl pellets in a bag to reference as we start the new topic of the skeletal system. The hip bones and limb bones they found during the lab activity are going to be great resources during the lesson due to the similarities in structure. \r\n\r\nYour kindness is appreciated!!!","fullyFundedDate":1745548514080,"projectUrl":"project/biology-dissections-of-owl-pellets/9271125/","projectTitle":"Biology Dissections of Owl Pellets","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wolf","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp510015_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y554&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751386337637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/510015"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_126371","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":298,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":126371,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Independence Classical Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Independence Classical Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/st-lucie-public-schools/independence-charter-academy/126371"}
