As I read aloud, students were able to follow along with a story on their own at their desk. After each chapter, we discussed the events that took place and tried to guess what would happen in the next chapter. My students thoroughly enjoyed having their own copy of the book to follow along with me. Some students who are not able to read chapter books on their own, were absolutely thrilled to be able to hold a large book like the story we are reading and be part of the group. The students love the story because some were familiar with the movie. We compared and contrasted the movie to the book and noted differences.
