When I first arrived at this school in June, I was shocked at the state of the inventory and quality of the classroom supplies. I knew that something needed to be done, and that is why I was thrilled to see that DonorsChoose allows for gracious donors to set up projects like this.\r\n\r\nThe materials have been put to good use! All of the reeds have been mostly given out to the beginning and advanced band students. For the rosin, I distributed it to the orchestra students so that each student now has their own; no more sharing! The screwdriver kit has also come in handy; you'd be shocked to see how many screws and bolts are in some of these instruments! I probably have saved a few hundred dollars in repairs thanks to this, and even more funds due to the gracious donation of instrument supplies that the kids need to be successful.\r\n\r\nI do plan to create another project or two soon, as there is still plenty of work to be done. But for now, the students are taken care of and we are making steady progress. Our first concert in Friday, December 5th, and the students are already itching to show the world what they can do!","fullyFundedDate":1752586241055,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-as-a-first-year-teacher/9387925/","projectTitle":"Help Me as a First-year Teacher!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Collester","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10047152"},{"teacherId":7074836,"projectId":9028035,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation of diverse books and materials. Your support has made a significant impact on our school community by increasing student engagement and enthusiasm for reading.\r\n We've seen a 10% increase in library visits and a 2% boost in book circulation, clear signs that students are more excited about reading. Books like Best Frenemies Forever and Pizzaface helped students connect with characters and experiences that reflect their own lives, fostering empathy and deeper engagement.\r\n Your donated items—stickers, fidgets, and bookmarks—were used as incentives in our reading programs and events. These small rewards encouraged participation, celebrated student progress, and helped make reading a more joyful and meaningful experience.\r\n Thanks to your generosity, our library has become a true hub of learning, belonging, and community.
