We have seen wonderful progess in classroom learning and culture since receiving the items. The laptop/tablet allows me to walk the classroom during instruction instead of standing at the screen. This helps in student engagement and classroom management where students remain on task with teacher proximity. In addition, I can hand a student the \"pen\" and tablet for them to share their responses. Class participation has increased considerably now that we have better use of technology.\r\n\r\nThe snacks serve as a great reward for our students in the PBIS token economy. Students want to earn more \"points\" so they can exchange them for a snack. They are so excited about the rewards, they want to shop every day. The snack portion of the project is so successful that I will need to creat another to restock the supply.\r\n\r\nOnce again, my students and I thank you for your kindess and support as we move forward in becoming better in everything we do.","fullyFundedDate":1755460301861,"projectUrl":"project/character-counts/9540638/","projectTitle":"Character Counts!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Eiswerth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9719934"},{"teacherId":10044424,"projectId":9568201,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our 8th grade math classroom has been transformed into a bright, welcoming, and inspiring place to learn! The new resources have completely changed the atmosphere—what was once a typical classroom is now an inviting, exciting space where students feel comfortable taking risks and exploring new math concepts. One of the most special additions has been our new classroom mascot, which the students helped name and now see as a symbol of our teamwork and problem-solving spirit.\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was contagious. They immediately started talking about how different the room felt—soft, colorful, and full of energy. Several students said it finally feels like a place where they want to learn math! That change in attitude has made such a difference in their confidence and willingness to participate.\r\nRight now, we're using our new environment to tackle a collaborative geometry project, where students design \"mascot-themed\" math spaces using measurements, area, and scale drawings. It's amazing to see how this cozy, creative space has inspired them to think mathematically while also working together. Because of your support, our classroom is now not only a place to learn equations and formulas—it's a place where curiosity, comfort, and community come alive every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757683196298,"projectUrl":"project/cow-of-a-room/9568201/","projectTitle":"Cow Of A Room","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Samartan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10044424"},{"teacherId":9593736,"projectId":9732942,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have access to a full class set of brand-new calculators that have truly improved our math classroom. Having reliable technology allows students to focus on learning and applying key concepts within the curriculum, rather than getting stuck on simple computation errors or sharing limited devices.\r\n\r\nI'm especially grateful that these calculators came with a storage case, keeping everything organized and secure. It's a relief to no longer spend class time troubleshooting broken calculators or tracking down missing ones. Because they're such a valuable resource, students treat them like gold—each student must temporarily exchange an item, such as a phone, shoe, or backpack, when borrowing one to ensure they are always returned safely.\r\n\r\nWhile students now have access to these crucial tools, I also continue to emphasize the importance of mental math and problem-solving without calculators. This balance helps them strengthen both accuracy and number sense while building confidence in their mathematical abilities.\r\n\r\nI also want to thank you for the additional items included in this project. My new mouse pad has been a small but mighty upgrade—it's much more comfortable on my wrist and makes it easier to spot my pointer among the many papers spread across my desk. The Jolly Ranchers will be put to great use as incentives for participation and positive classroom behavior, adding a bit of sweetness to our math lessons.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact on both our learning environment and classroom culture. We used the poster-size easel pads to create step-by-step anchor charts for GCF/LCM and fraction operations, then did a gallery walk where groups added examples with the class set of markers. Students set up their binders with dividers (Notes, Classwork, Homework, Reference), and we've been using sticky notes as exit tickets while washi tape flags key examples in their notebooks. The fluorescent light covers and air purifier made the room noticeably calmer and cleaner—several students said the charts were \"easier to follow,\" and a few who benefit from PBIS fidget tools were able to focus longer during work time.\r\n\r\nNext, we're building a visible \"library\" of anchor charts for each unit and doing weekly binder checks to keep organization habits strong. Students will use the markers and pads to create peer-teaching posters on the distributive property, then tab the most helpful examples to reference during DeltaMath and quizzes. I'll keep printing targeted practice sets and family updates (thanks to the ink!) so everyone can see the progress you made possible. Because of you, our learning space has become more organized, calming, and empowering for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions was the digital clock. Many of my students struggle with reading analog clocks, and having a clear, easy-to-read digital display has helped them manage their time more independently and confidently throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nThe new lamp and curtains have transformed the atmosphere in our classroom, creating a softer and more welcoming environment—especially helpful during quiet work time or testing. The space feels calmer, more focused, and better suited to learning.\r\n\r\nTo support student focus and emotional regulation, we added stretch bands to desks for quiet movement and calming stickers to each desk as visual reminders for mindfulness and grounding. These tools have made a noticeable difference in students' ability to stay present and engaged during lessons.\r\n\r\nThe Astrobrights paper has been used to create bright, color-coded labels around the classroom—including for our homework bin, test bin, PBIS reward bin, and days of the week station signs. These visual cues have improved classroom routines and helped students navigate the space with confidence.\r\n\r\nBehind the scenes, the storage bins, clipboards, folders, and drawer organizers have brought clarity and structure to our materials. Our classroom now runs more efficiently, and students are able to access everything they need with ease.\r\n\r\nWe're currently working through a multi-step math unit involving group rotations, review stations, and hands-on problem-solving. With your help, we've created an environment where students can focus, move independently through activities, and take pride in their space.\r\n\r\nYour donation provided more than just classroom supplies—it helped us build a space that supports learning, comfort, and community every day. The excitement in the room was contagious—students were smiling, cheering for each other, and already talking about how they were going to save points for next time.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the snacks, their faces lit up. Many asked, \"Are these really for us?\" They couldn't believe they were going to have a fun way to celebrate their hard work across all of their classes.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue building consistency with the PBIS system. I've been hard at work creating worksheets, tests, review sheets, homework, and quizzes. Before your support, I'll admit I felt very scared. Coming from New York, I had always thought of 6th grade math as more elementary-level, focused on basics. But with the materials I was graciously gifted, I was able to dive into research and planning, and I now feel confident in expanding my students' knowledge with new and challenging topics.\r\n\r\nMy favorite memory tied to this project was actually the moment it got funded. I felt such immediate relief—as if a huge weight of anger, anxiety, and uncertainty had been lifted off my shoulders. Knowing I had these resources in place gave me the confidence to move forward and pour my energy into teaching rather than worrying.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, one of the skills I'm excited to grow is weaving more inquiry-based learning into my math lessons. I want my students to see math not just as problems on a page but as a tool they can use to solve real-world questions. With the foundation of resources I now have, I feel better prepared to take that next step with them.","fullyFundedDate":1748444320862,"projectUrl":"project/new-grade-new-goals-equipping-myself-t/9350225/","projectTitle":"New Grade, New Goals: Equipping Myself to Empower 6th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cochrane","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9593736_orig.jpg?crop=3022,3022,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746033205389","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9593736"},{"teacherId":9593736,"projectId":9220872,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed! The moment the students saw the new board games, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. It didn't take long before they were gathered in small groups, strategizing, laughing, and engaging in friendly competition.\r\n\r\nWe've incorporated the games into our structured free time and team-building activities. For example, during our \"Screen-Free Fridays,\" students now have the choice to play Connect 4, Sorry!, or Uno with their peers instead of reaching for their phones. The impact has been immediate—students who once sat quietly on devices are now interacting, problem-solving, and even encouraging one another.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a shy student step up as the \"game master,\" teaching others the rules and leading the group through a full round of play. It was a proud reminder that these games offer more than entertainment—they build confidence, leadership, and social skills.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to continue integrating these games into our daily routines, using them as tools for collaboration, conflict resolution, and relationship building.
