Because this is the Clear English version, my ESE students are able to access the story independently instead of feeling overwhelmed by difficult, archaic language. This allows us to focus on essential reading skills such as analyzing character motivations, identifying themes like isolation and belonging, and making meaningful connections between the text and their own lives. Students are practicing close reading, annotating key passages, and engaging in thoughtful discussions where they can finally participate with confidence. The accessibility of this version helps them build fluency, comprehension, and—most importantly—a sense of pride in their abilities as readers.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, engaging experience. Students read portions together, discuss big ideas in small groups, and reflect on questions like what makes someone human and how our choices affect others. I have seen students who previously avoided reading become deeply invested in the creature's story. One student in particular, who often struggled to complete assignments due to reading challenges, recently told me, \"I actually feel bad for him,\" and eagerly volunteered to share his thoughts with the class. Moments like this are powerful because they show students not only improving their literacy skills but also developing empathy and confidence. Your generosity has made this possible, and it has opened the door for students who once felt left out to see themselves as capable, thoughtful readers. Thank you for making this meaningful learning experience a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1764598515330,"projectUrl":"project/frankenstein-understood/9908484/","projectTitle":"Frankenstein Understood","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kinsella","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9402341"},{"teacherId":9402341,"projectId":9274432,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of The Crucible for our classroom. Having a full class set allows my students to read, annotate, and engage with Arthur Miller's classic play in a meaningful way. Instead of struggling to share a few copies, each student now has the opportunity to closely examine the text, participate fully in discussions, and build deeper connections to its timeless themes of integrity, justice, and social responsibility. Your support ensures that students are not only readers, but also critical thinkers who can see the relevance of this work in today's world.\r\n\r\nYour gift has truly enriched our classroom community. Because of your generosity, my students can experience literature in the way it was meant to be read—together, page by page, with their own text in hand. Already, I see how this opportunity is sparking curiosity and engagement, and I am so grateful for the doors it opens for my students. Thank you for investing in their education, for valuing the power of literature, and for helping us create a classroom where all students feel equipped to learn and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1746786123450,"projectUrl":"project/reading-is-winning/9274432/","projectTitle":"Reading Is Winning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kinsella","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9402341"},{"teacherId":8113381,"projectId":9171590,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have access to a Cricut machine and high-quality materials that have transformed our classroom into a space for creativity, collaboration, and real-world learning. From day one, they were eager to explore the possibilities—designing educational posters, customizing classroom materials, and even crafting visuals for their essays and presentations.\r\n\r\nThis project had an incredible impact on my students' learning. They became more engaged and took ownership of their work, often staying after class to help create displays or refine their designs. It gave them a new way to express ideas visually and reinforced skills like planning, revision, and presentation.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, the Cricut allowed me to bring lessons to life in ways I couldn't before. I've been able to create differentiated materials, support hands-on projects, and celebrate student work with custom recognition items like bookmarks and certificates. Most importantly, it empowered students to connect their learning to the real world—and to take pride in what they create.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us build a more inspiring and inclusive learning environment.
