I have started transforming my room into a safe space for my students and myself. My students are absolutely in love with the rugs and I have really seen how just something so simple as a rug Can be used as a calming tool for students who are in a heiy behavioral state. This project was a great first step in my room transformation and I am so blessed to have gotten it funded. I have already began working on another project which will help enhance my student learning through curriculum! Over the last year, I have been trying to transform my classroom into a space where my students can feel safe and can come when they need a break. As a behavior interventionist, I teach strategies that equip students with the tools to help them learn coping skills, self-awareness, self management, and other components of emotional regulation. It is important that the students have a space/area where they can come and take a break if they feel emotionally overwhelmed or angry.
