My students are using it to design, build, and program robots that take on real-world themed challenges, from navigating obstacle courses to performing precise tasks on the competition table. One of the highlights so far was when a team programmed the Spike Prime to cross a bridge they had engineered with LEGO pieces during a lesson on structural stability. The cheers that erupted when it made it across showed just how powerful hands-on learning can be.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement filled the room. They gathered around the box, pointing out different pieces and brainstorming possibilities before we even started the day's lesson. For many, it was their first time working with advanced robotics equipment, and you could see the mix of curiosity and determination on their faces. The Spike Prime kit didn't just spark engagement, it made them feel like real engineers.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve preparing for the upcoming FIRST LEGO League competitions. Students are developing strategies to complete specific missions, refining their coding, and collaborating on their Innovation Project, which connects robotics to solving real-world problems. With the Spike Prime, they can prototype ideas faster and experiment more creatively, which builds both technical skills and confidence. Your support gave them more than just a robot, it gave them the tools to dream bigger and push further.","fullyFundedDate":1744862881869,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-tomorrow-lego-robots-for-mi/9210441/","projectTitle":"Engineering Tomorrow: LEGO Robots for Middle School Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeCarlo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9979260_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742927132461","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-decarlo"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_47148","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1334,"numTeachers":82,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.5,"schoolId":47148,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Milwee Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Milwee Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/seminole-county-public-schools/milwee-middle-school/47148"}
