Because of your generosity, my students now have the everyday tools that make powerful learning possible. We are using the dry erase markers daily in our Building Thinking Classroom, where students work together at whiteboards to solve problems, explain their reasoning, and revise their thinking. One of my favorite moments in my day is now watching students collaborate and discuss at the whiteboards. It warms my teacher heart to watch students move to other groups to ask questions and transfer knowledge without any prompting from me.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, my students were laughing. Having plenty of markers means a group can just grab a new one and I don't have to waste time trying to revive old ones! The graph paper was not as well received 😉as students are now being pushed to organize data, create accurate graphs, and better understand the relationships they observe. While the math struggle is still real, their graphing skills are growing by leaps and bounds, and they are better prepared for any AP Science or future science/math course. As trivial as they seem, the tissues have made a difference, helping keep our classroom comfortable and focused during long learning days. The kids and I were especially thankful during this particular cold and flu season, as we all got hit with the sniffles at some point. \r\n\r\nThanks to you, our next steps involve deeper problem-solving and obtaining more lab equipment, such as hot plates for hands-on lab work. Students are continuing to collaborate at whiteboards while also designing and analyzing experiments using the graphing paper you provided. These resources help create a classroom where students are engaged, confident, and ready to think critically every day.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed. Your support is felt in our classroom every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1762244150022,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-thinking-classroom/9535622/","projectTitle":"Building a Thinking Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Story","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9636844"},{"teacherId":9705738,"projectId":9189703,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our media center has transformed into a hub of creativity and innovation! The addition of our new high-quality recording microphones and soundproofing materials has opened doors for our students that we never could have imagined. What was once just an idea has become a dream of giving students a professional recording space.\r\nThe excitement in the media center is contagious. Students are lining up to reserve time in the recording studio, eager to create podcasts, produce audio for digital storytelling projects, and even experiment with original music. For many of them, this is their first experience working with professional-grade equipment, and they are discovering new talents and interests they didn't know they had.\r\nOne of our journalism students, Antonio, has especially flourished. He's leading a small team to create a series highlighting school news and events, inspiring other students to get involved in sharing their perspectives.\r\nThis technology is giving our students hands-on experience that mirrors real-world careers in broadcasting, and multimedia production. Beyond the technical skills, they're also learning collaboration, problem-solving, and the power of using their voices to inform, inspire, and connect with others.\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your support. You've given our students more than equipment; you've given them opportunities, confidence, and a platform to share their ideas with the world. From all of us at Lakewood High School, thank you for believing in our students and helping us make this dream a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1742838742548,"projectUrl":"project/amplifying-student-voices-launching-a-p/9189703/","projectTitle":"Amplifying Student Voices: Launching a Podcast & Recording Studio!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Russo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9705738_orig.jpg?crop=2518,2518,x239,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724597194168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lakewoodmediacenter"},{"teacherId":6193961,"projectId":8754668,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donation of the laptop for our classroom. Your contribution has been instrumental in transforming this space into a modern College and Career Center, a place where our students can dream, plan, and prepare for their futures.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on our students' faces when they first walked in and saw the new furniture was priceless. Their eyes lit up as they explored the inviting seating areas, collaborative workspaces, and comfortable study zones. Many commented on how much more \"college-like\" the space feels, and they are already taking full advantage of the new setup—whether it's for group study sessions, career exploration, or simply a quiet place to focus on their goals.\r\n\r\nWith this transformation well underway, we are excited for the next steps in bringing our vision to life. Soon, we will be personalizing the space with student college acceptance posters, celebrating the achievements of those taking their next steps toward higher education. We also plan to host college and technical school fairs, providing students with direct access to representatives and opportunities that can shape their futures. Additionally, the center will serve as a meeting place for student clubs, fostering leadership and engagement among our students. Looking ahead, we envision creating an alumni center to strengthen connections between current students and graduates who can offer guidance, mentorship, and support.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a space that will inspire generations of students to pursue their dreams with confidence.
