I can not fully express how my kids felt seeing all of the new books that came into the classroom. The students were so surprised and could not wait to open them and get to reading. \r\n\r\nTo help build the excitement, I would add a few new books each week until they were all displayed. I have a shelf that has a \"Book Spotlight\" poster above it with paper spotlights shining down on the books. The kids always looked there as they went book shopping for new books. Many times, they only lasted a couple minutes before finding their way into a student's hands. As soon as that student was finished, there was another eagerly awaiting the book. \r\n\r\nThey also loved the decodables!! These were great for building their phonics skills and helping them to move up many levels in their ELFAC testing. Now all my students are near or at grade level. Knowing I am sending strong students into third grade makes me unbelievably happy. They are some of the most prepared kids I have sent on in a while, and I know it is in part due to the decodables. \r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my classroom in this endeavor. The small group stools provide a stable spot for students to sit comfortably, as well as adding a pop of color. The mobile whiteboard is extremely useful with not only student usage during small groups, but as well as providing a great resource to use when teaching. Our district is implementing a \"pop-up small group\" impact plan for ELA which involves differentiated the independent task in reading lessons. I use the whiteboard to build an anchor chart and am able to wheel it around reminding students what their task is. It also helps the students become self-reliant. My students love the comprehension games that were part of this project! They are a great way for the students to practice relevant topics in preparation of FAST testing towards the end of the year. \r\n\r\nParents, administration, and our curriculum specialist have all completed the new resources and tools I have received, and I made sure to give all the thanks to my project donors because without you, it would not have happened. These resources are a game-changer for my lessons, and my students love the tools they get to use.
