Since our books have come in, we have reorganized the entire library. Students are easily able to find the new books of interest and not only has the motivation for reading increased, but the monthly reading assessments scores have also increased! The students agree that they are reading more and that is contributing to their test successes. \r\nFrom approaching readers to readers who are at levels beyond the second-grade expectation, every student is now afforded more choice for independent reading time. I get to hear readers softly sounding out words, speaking in the expression of the character's voices or thinking aloud as to how a mystery will be solved...it's a joy to both see and hear the growth of these students as they engage in the text and are continually wanting the next book to read! \r\nThank you for placing smiles on the faces of these eager readers! Students were so excited to choose a book to start reading right away. It was even nice to see them take turns over the favorite books that many of them were choosing. They started a sign out sheet for several of the books. \r\n\r\nWhen students are interested in reading a book, they look forward to independent reading time and can stay focused on the task of reading. When students finish their work early, they are also welcome to get a book out and read. Students have been focused on getting their work done and staying motivated so that they can get reading the book they have chosen from your kind donations.
