My students were so excited when they first saw the new materials. They immediately wanted to touch, explore, and use the stamps, turning letter identification and formation into an exciting hands-on experience. One of my favorite moments was watching students carefully choose the letters needed to stamp their names and then proudly show their finished work to their classmates. Without your support, our dreams for creating these wonderful learning experiences for our children could not have come true.\r\n\r\nBeing able to plan, prepare, and set everything up during the first three weeks of school so that our project could get underway was incredible. We began using the Tuff Trays with kinetic sand to teach the children how to keep the media inside the trays. Once they mastered that skill, we were able to move on to materials that could easily move through their fingers and out of the Tuff Tray.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite activities involved birdseed and colorful Unifix cubes. The children had an exciting time searching for the cubes, picking them up, and placing them into matching bowls. They were also able to use tools they now recognize by name, including pinchers, tweezers, and tongs.\r\n\r\nThe Tuff Tray is large enough to almost fit my entire class around it at one time! There was so much learning happening across a variety of developmental domains. Social-emotionally, the children practiced sharing, taking turns, and shifting around the tray to make room for everyone. They strengthened their fine-motor skills as they used pinchers, tweezers, and tongs. Cognitively, they searched for colored items, identified colors, and matched each item to the appropriate bowl.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the air was truly joyful to see. The students worked together, communicated with one another, and proudly shared what they had found and which bowl it belonged in. These experiences provided meaningful opportunities for learning, exploration, cooperation, and discovery—all while having fun outdoors!\r\n\r\nWe look forward to many more days of learning and exploration outside using our Tuff Trays. The large size of the trays easily fits 7 or 8 preschoolers around the perimeter. So many tiny humans engaging in one activity has created a gold mine of peer to peer conversation as well as vocabulary introduction (today was tweezers and \"utensil\").\r\nEvery new tray set up recieves all the \"oohhhss\" and \"ahhhhs\" from our young learners. We have been able to use various media (beans and rice) to hide various plastic insects and spiders within the media and have the students use pinches, tongs, as well as fingers to locate the insects developing their fine motor skills. \r\n\r\nOur PreK classrooms have been loving being able to experience various aspects of the sensory table.
