Now, every band group has real access to a full drum setup during class. The change has been immediate and inspiring: students are more engaged, more confident, and far more willing to take creative risks. Rehearsals feel purposeful and energized, and the entire room comes alive with students actively making music instead of waiting for equipment.\r\n\r\nWith more hands-on time, our drummers are developing stronger technique and better rhythmic awareness, which elevates the performance of each band as a whole. Students who were once hesitant to try the drums are now excitedly jumping in—because the equipment is accessible, inviting, and ready for them. Our previous keyboards, donated years ago, had begun to show their age with broken keys and power issues. These new instruments have brought reliability, improved sound quality, and renewed enthusiasm to our program.\r\n\r\nWhile we haven't yet begun using the keyboards for audio recording, our students have already been putting them to great use. In our Modern Band program, Level 1 students have started their intro to piano unit, building foundational skills that will support their musical growth. Level 2 students are actively using the keyboards as part of their full band rehearsals, integrating them into live performance settings with repertoire.\r\n\r\nIn our new audio engineering class, students are beginning to explore the keyboards as tools for learning basic piano technique and MIDI functionality. It has been so nice to have every group have their own so they can get consistent practice in throughout class and not have to rotate. This has caused the students' skills to grow exponentially as they're getting so much more playing time in!\r\n\r\nWith our new amps, we are starting to get ready for some end of year projects. The students will be preparing for a battle of the bands style showcase at the end of the school year where they will get to pick a song of their choice and work on it within their groups. They will also be going on a trip to a recording studio in the spring to record their work, which they are really excited about!\r\n\r\nOur new amps will be so crucial in making sure that we are prepared for all the great things that are coming our way.
