These robots have truly transformed my approach to teaching coding and have ignited a passion for technology in our girls that we are thrilled to witness.\r\n\r\nBefore we acquired the Finch robots, coding was an abstract concept for many of our girls, something they saw on a screen but didn't fully grasp. The Finches have brought coding to life, allowing our students to see their code in action and understand the direct relationship between their instructions and the robot's movements. This hands-on experience has been invaluable.\r\n\r\nThe Finch robots have fostered the development of crucial skills beyond just coding. Our girls are learning problem-solving and perseverance as they debug their code and work through challenges. They are also developing essential teamwork skills as they collaborate to program the Finches to perform specific tasks.\r\n\r\nOne of the most remarkable aspects of the Finch robots is their accessibility. Even girls who are learning English have been able to engage successfully with the coding activities. We've seen incredible examples of girls who speak different languages, such as Chinese and Portuguese, working together seamlessly to program the Finch to move, turn, and even draw. The visual and tactile nature of the Finch robots transcends language barriers, allowing everyone to participate and contribute.\r\n\r\nBeyond the technical skills, the Finches have sparked our girls' creativity and empowered them to see themselves as capable \"girl thinkers.\" They are excited to experiment, explore different coding approaches, and bring their own unique ideas to life through the robots. The Finch robots have not only taught them how to code, but they've also instilled a belief that they can code and create amazing things.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support in making these valuable learning tools available to our Girls Who Code club. The Finch robots are making a real difference in the lives of our girls, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to use them.","fullyFundedDate":1731535223081,"projectUrl":"project/girls-who-code-soar-with-finch-robots/8771498/","projectTitle":"Girls Who Code Soar With Finch Robots","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5289106"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_126182","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":726,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":11,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.4,"schoolId":126182,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Summerlake Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Summerlake Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/orange-county-public-schools/summerlake-elementary-school/126182"}
