We were able to have the largest elementary band in our schools history. \r\nWe had 240+ students participate in Recorder Karate. \r\n\r\nMy students were in awe when we opened the instruments and they honestly couldn't comprehend that strangers would care to help them. It was like Christmas morning in the music room. \r\n\r\nWe had students audition for All State for the first time ever and had 3 make it into the All County groups. These tools allowed us to take our after-school esports program to the next level and welcome more students into a space where they feel motivated, challenged, and included.\r\n\r\nOur school serves a high-needs population, and for many of our students, this program is more than just a club—it's a lifeline. One of our 8th-grade students, who often battles anxiety and low self-esteem, recently stepped into the role of team captain during our weekly practice. This has greatly impacted our students and have made them have a positive outlook on coming to school each day. Thanks to all the help we proudly made it to the playoffs (The first in our 12 years of being a school!) and secured 3rd place. Students used the bags to help transport their uniforms and change of clothes for practice which helped with the being able to practice longer and more frequent. The water bottles of course kept students hydrated throughout games and practice and the lunch cooler was used to house the lunches the players got on game days. The bag kept the food at a nice temperature for the students. We had previously been using a desk and it was so difficult to play. \r\nThe Standard of Excellence Book allows students to look at each others parts and lets them collaborate and sight read together. We also used this event to give back by collecting can goods and everyone who donated was entered into a raffle for one of the snack boxes provided from this project.
