Students are able to choose seating that helps them focus, collaborate, or feel comfortable while learning. A moment that really stands out was during a science writing activity: students were spread out around the room—some working on the floor with clipboards, others at the flexible chairs—completely engaged in writing about their observations. Students who normally struggle to stay focused were able to work for longer periods of time, and discussions flowed more naturally during partner and small-group work.\r\n\r\nThey were beyond excited! There were lots of smiles, gasps, and questions about how everything worked. More than the excitement, though, they felt proud and trusted. I could tell they understood that this wasn't just \"new furniture,\" but something meant to support their learning. They immediately wanted to try everything and were very respectful about taking turns and following expectations.\r\n\r\nRight now, students are continuing to use flexible seating during hands-on lessons that integrate reading, writing, and science. They are working on projects that require collaboration, discussion, and reflection, and the seating allows them to move seamlessly between independent work and group activities. The next steps include deeper project-based learning, where students will research, write, and present their thinking—using the seating that best supports their learning style. Thanks to our donors, students are learning not only academic content, but also independence, responsibility, and self-awareness as learners.","fullyFundedDate":1768419183589,"projectUrl":"project/comfortable-seating-for-confident-learne/9945073/","projectTitle":"Comfortable Seating for Confident Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Sra.
