The impact of your contribution has been nothing short of amazing, igniting a spark of excitement and creativity in our students that's truly heartwarming to witness.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment we unveiled the LEGO Spike Kits, our 3rd graders' eyes lit up with wonder and anticipation. Their reactions ranged from gasps of excitement to eager questions about when they could start building. It was as if Christmas had come early to our school! We've been using these kits in our media center for hands-on STEM teaching, and the engagement level has skyrocketed. Just last week, our 3rd grade students tackled a real-world problem in our school cafeteria. Using the LEGO Spike Kit, they designed and programmed an interactive trash can to encourage proper waste disposal. The can lights up and makes fun sounds when students correctly sort their trash, recycling, and compostables. It's been a hit and the pride on our young innovators' faces when they saw their creation making a real difference in our school was absolutely priceless.\r\n\r\nThe impact extends beyond our regular classes too. Our new school-wide LEGO Club has become the talk of the school/ It's been incredible to see students who usually struggle to focus in traditional lessons become completely absorbed in building and coding challenges. The collaborative problem-solving and creativity I'm seeing is exactly what we hoped for when we dreamed up this project.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're planning more projects the student 3rd graders can created using the LEGO Spike Kits. Inspired by the success of the interactive trash can, these young minds are already brainstorming other ways they can use technology to solve everyday problems in our school and community. It's amazing to see how these resources are not just teaching STEM skills, but also boosting confidence, encouraging teamwork, and fostering a love for learning and innovation in our 3rd grade students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. Your generosity is helping shape these young innovators and problem-solvers and making our school a better place today!","fullyFundedDate":1733164315083,"projectUrl":"project/building-with-lego-spike-robotics-and-co/8941204/","projectTitle":"Building With LEGO Spike Robotics and Coding","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bates","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2377678_orig.jpg?crop=666,666,x0,y188&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1595970052894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-sbates"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46179","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":380,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.9,"schoolId":46179,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whitehouse Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Whitehouse Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/duval-county-public-schools/whitehouse-elementary-school/46179"}
