I cannot express enough gratitude for your generosity.\r\n\r\nAs an ELA teacher for the past 26 years, I have predominantly taught at private schools where the students were able to purchase their own novels. Four years ago, I began teaching at a Title I charter school, and not only does the school not always have the funding to purchase class sets of novels, but the students are not financially able to buy the books for themselves. I teach AP English Language and Composition, and it is critical for my students to be able to read certain texts. While I can find these texts online as PDFs, this is not ideal because many of my students do not have access to Wifi or iPads to read at home. Because you helped us by donating paper copies of The Scarlet Letter, I feel that my students will be better prepared to succeed on their exam in May. \r\n\r\nWhen my students saw that we had paper copies of the novel, they got so excited! It made them want to dive in! I had students who borrowed copies to take home over the weekend and came back eager to discuss. This would not have been possible without your generosity.\r\n\r\nAlso, the headphones have made a great impact, especially with my ninth grade ESOL students. They are able to use the headphones during class to listen to texts in English while reading the subtitles in Spanish. \r\n\r\nOverall, my students felt so proud and appreciative when they found out that someone had donated to them! Someone put them first and cared about their learning. That someone is you, and I and my class thank you tremendously!","fullyFundedDate":1758829573727,"projectUrl":"project/bring-a-novel-to-kids-in-need/9565631/","projectTitle":"Bring a Novel to Kids in Need","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9309841"},{"teacherId":10165722,"projectId":9611386,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support with the supplies! \r\n\r\nThe kiddos are little by little familiarizing with how time progresses, their perception on how much time is left for their assignments is getting more accurate and therefore their decisions are aligning, it is fun to watch, and I am sure it will help them even more in the future.\r\n\r\nHaving visual aids is useful, and make for a more engaging experience in general since it can even be memorable, you have contributed to a lesson that will be applied all year long :) thank you","fullyFundedDate":1755710285961,"projectUrl":"project/how-much-time-is-left-miss/9611386/","projectTitle":"How Much Time Is Left, Miss?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erika B","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10165722_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754769151728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-erika-b"},{"teacherId":5442253,"projectId":8479978,"letterContent":"First, I want to thank all of the people and companies that graciously helped fund this endeavor for my high school students. A few weeks into school, I was able to set up the shop, train the students to run it, and then go and begin \"selling\" the items with the PBIS classroom money they had earned for correct behavior and kindness to others.\r\nStudents who followed classroom expectations earned classroom money to purchase the snacks they wanted. This kept them awake, and they weren't hungry (especially since it can be a long time between breakfast ending at 8:10 a.m. and lunches starting at 11:30 a.m.). My class had a third lunch, so we didn't eat until 12:55 p.m. \r\nThey also became better at cleaning up after themselves (sweeping up drops, putting their bags in the table trash can and emptying it during cleanup for the next class, etc.).\r\nBeing able to share snacks with the students also helped build a strong classroom community between the students and me. It has been a wonderful year so far.\r\nI have asked students which were their favorites and we are using parent donations and my purchases to keep the store running. \r\nI appreciate the start Donors Choose and the donors gave me and my students at the beginning of the year to make this activity happen.","fullyFundedDate":1723311019643,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-help-learning-happen-and-keep-beh/8479978/","projectTitle":"Snacks Help Learning Happen and Keep Behavior Flowing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fowles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5442253_orig.jpg?crop=315,315,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690123940461","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5442253"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127483","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":626,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":58.8,"schoolId":127483,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Global Leadership Academy High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Global Leadership Academy High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/duval-county-public-schools/global-outreach-charter-academy-high-school/127483"}
