As soon as they noticed it, they were so excited to go over and get a closer look. They commented on how much they loved the colors, which match our classroom theme perfectly. They touched it, sat on it, and immediately noticed how soft and comfortable it was.\r\n\r\nSince then, we have started having more independent reading and writing time, and the rug is the very first place my students want to be! We are also beginning our math rotations, where students have opportunities to play math games and practice their skills, and they often ask if they can sit on the rug while they work.\r\n\r\nMy class absolutely loves having this special, cozy place to read, learn, and complete their work. Having access to additional engaging, standards-aligned resources has allowed me to provide students with meaningful opportunities to practice important reading skills while also differentiating instruction to meet their individual needs. My students have especially benefited from the additional reading activities, comprehension practice, and skill-based resources. These materials have helped make our reading lessons more engaging and have given students extra opportunities to practice the skills they are learning in class. I have also been able to use the resources during small-group instruction and intervention to provide students with additional support when they need it.\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful to see students become more confident in their reading and more willing to participate in discussions and activities. Your support is making a difference in our learning every day and has helped strengthen our classroom community. \r\n\r\nOur rolling cart was introduced almost immediately upon receiving. Students noticed how easily I moved around the room and had tools ready to model problems with manipulatives. This has been incredibly helpful during our current unit on understanding place value and comparing numbers. Students have been more engaged and eager to support one another in their learning. In a recent lessons on place value, I observed a student who had a great grasp on the lesson, modeling place value understanding by reaching for base the blocks from the cart and laying them on a flat place value chart for their partner. Walking them through the visual and oral meaning of each block and space. This was taken a step further when the student offering the support then asked their partner to try to read a new number as reflected on the chart with the manipulatives. Seeing students lead, and learn from each other has been one of the sweet and unexpected surprises that came with this rolling cart. \r\n\r\nThe headphones have become essential during the parts of our day that are technology driven. Students use them during their independent learning enrichment on iready, and during assessments that feature read aloud or video features. The privacy folder adds that extra bit of testing security that is essential in class. This will be especially so during high stakes state tests come January. What's been fun to see at times when we aren't testing, is students reaching for these privacy folders to create their own \"quiet cubical\" at their desk when they are facing challenges staying focused or simply want some personal quiet work space. \r\n\r\nThe wicker baskets and seat sacks have created an INCREDIBLY organized environment which allows me to thrive, and allows students independence to grab what they need all while keeping their personal learning spaces neat.\r\n\r\nI hope to continue to provide an environment with enriching tools as I interchange the resources on the cart during each unit. To use the light switches purchased with this funding to continue offering warm and cozy learning spaces. And most importantly to make my classroom feel like a home full of learning opportunities fitted best to how each child learns. Whether this be through independence to reach for what they need, or to guide those who need an extra hand.
