Students, especially our visual learners and English language learners, often had to work harder to make connections to the content. Now, our classrooms have colorful anchor charts, vocabulary walls and student centers that our students find very appealing! \r\n\r\nThe new printer has allowed us to create engaging, vivid resources on demand. For our integers unit, we printed color number lines that made it so much easier for students to identify grasp the concept of positive and negative numbers. The impact has also been helpful in the creation of student centers. There are several weathering and erosion activities that we were able to do with just simple supplies. Kids love experiments, even simple ones. If they are excited about what is happening in my class, it builds a love of science and learning as a whole.\r\n\r\nThe printer cartridges allowed me to print items in class and move classes along faster than we normally would have. We were able to reclaim time and used the time for a fun perceptions lab. The sun and the moon look the same size, but it is just a situation of perception. The kids got to create their own perceptions photos. \r\n\r\nYour donation made my kids feel important, it made me feel valued and I thank you! You were able to provide my classes with the materials I felt would enhance the learning. Even something as simple as colored paper to code the four languages I have in one period was just helpful and made class go smoothly. The familiarity with varying technologies differs greatly among my students and I want them to have exposure to different platforms and understand how that technology can work for them.\r\n\r\nThe tablet we received, in conjunction with their issued computers has provided the research platform for their work. I have provided the topics so far. The first was to compare and contrast John Glenn and Yuri Gagarin, the first two men in space. The second was to discuss the cause and effect that the Moon's characteristics manifest upon Earth. In addition, we received some really great snacks that make the \"research team\" feel special. I am also looking forward to starting the year next year with the research station as an active part of my classroom.
