The students were excited from the moment the boxes began arriving and finding out what was inside began their love of what we call 'balancing their brain.'\r\n\r\nWe use the sit and spins, both in class and outside. Outside, it is a choice and they often prefer to use them in pairs. Inside, I pull names for the lucky winners that get to use them during our daily 'spin class.' In class we also use the balance ball chairs at their seats. These chairs are rotated to different students on a daily basis so that everyone uses them. Some children prefer them while others still have difficulty figuring out how to sit properly. \r\n\r\nI have noticed an overall improvement in their spatial awareness. They are definitely more aware of and respectful of classmates' personal space. I cannot quantify it, but the ability to attend and focus while sitting on the carpet does seem to be greater AND they are not seeking sensory input by rolling around in their spot. It has been VERY rewarding to watch as kids who really struggled with these balance activities (especially the turtle back 'rocks' and the 'clip clip' walking toys) become more confident in their balance abilities and be able to sustain their positions and focus. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping to develop these important systems for my kids. Not all development can be measured with paper and pencil tests. Stimulating and developing their vestibular system, although not exactly visible, is evident in the confidence they build in mastering these balance activities and the self-control displayed in the classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1758834615292,"projectUrl":"project/balance-is-key-vestibular-system-meet-t/9659383/","projectTitle":"Balance is Key: Vestibular System Meet the Brain","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Batiato","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/beesforlife"},{"teacherId":10111305,"projectId":9533269,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are absolutely LOVING the flexible seating! They clapped when I opened the boxes the day after they arrived they were so excited! My students use the flexible seating when they break off into groups to work on collaborative reading activities or projects. The \"Seat Circles\" as we call them, provide the students an opportunity to sit in a circle near each other when working. They absolutely love being able to spread out into the corners of the room to work on the activities. The \"Seat Circles\" provide them these opportunities instead of just sitting at their desks. \r\n I have seen the students excited since the \"Seat Circles\"arrived to meet and work on activities and discussions to practice with each others the Reading Standards I have introduced. They also enjoy using the \"Seat Circles\" to buddy up while they are editing each others work! \r\n They are also enjoying the \"Rocking Reading Chairs\" as we call them to cozy up and read independently.
