With the resources you have provided, we have already done so many fun and impactful activities. One of the favorite room transformations of the year is the \"Glow Room\". This year, I transformed our classroom to an \"'80's Roller Rink\" and students worked on rigorous puzzles comparing the Articles of Confederation and the U.S. Constitution. The room environment (everything neon, glow sticks, and black lights) makes it so much fun and students do not even realize how challenging the work is! It is a great day and I look forward to it each year.\r\n\r\nAnother activity (new this year) was a benchmark about how to amend the Constitution. Students worked in groups to create a new amendment and try to get it added to the Constitution. Using the foam dice from this grant, students needed to roll certain numbers to get the amendment through the proposal stage and then through the ratification stage. (True to reality, most amendments did not get ratified.)\r\n\r\nYour donations help teachers like me to provide meaningful, fun, and engaging activities for students. Changing up the environment of the room (room transformations) and adding in simulations of various benchmarks provide students with hands-on activities that not only help with understanding complicated concepts, but also help with long-term retention of the information. For example, when prior students see me dressed up for the '80's Roller Rink day, they exclaim \"today must be about how the Constitution fixed the weaknesses of the AOC! That was such a fun day!\" That is music to a teachers ears and you helped to make that happen. They often remark how comfortable the area is and there is now a rush to see who can use the area first. Additionally, students use the area for group activities because they find it more relaxing than working at their desk. \r\n\r\nWhat started out as a way of encouraging reading has done so much more. Your support allowed me to acquire a dozen which made it possible for them to do extra work at home. \r\nBecause of your kindness and support, my Algebra 1 Honors students were able to take IMS from last place in the district, 11th, to 2nd place with their amazing Quarter 1 Benchmark test scores. There were smiles, enthusiastic outbursts, cheering, students congratulating each other, and an instantaneous desire to learn more!!!! It was an honor and a privilege, as their teacher, to witness this. As honor students, they are already driven and work hard; but this new need to learn more was on a different level. The digital clock has already become a class favorite because students use it to track transitions, manage group work, and build responsibility during independent tasks. It has created a calmer, more productive learning environment where everyone knows exactly what to expect and how to stay on pace.\r\n\r\nWe use the new resources every day. The headphones have made the biggest difference during our Aleks lessons because students can now complete their individualized math pathways without distractions from the rest of the room. The mechanical pencils keep everyone prepared for note taking and problem solving, especially during guided practice. The dry erase markers have brought new energy to our whiteboard activities, and the light covers help reduce glare and make the room feel more welcoming. These small changes have created a big shift in student focus, confidence, and engagement.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on a multi step equations unit, and the new supplies have made our group tasks and practice rotations smoother than ever.
