Because of your generosity, my second graders have been fully immersed in our animal habitat project, \"Where the Wild Things Live.\" The materials you provided—Reader's Chair, dry erase markers, pencils, animal erasers, Play-Doh, dry erase packets for our animal project, reading comprehension cubes, and animal plate art kits—have made learning hands-on, creative, and unforgettable.\r\n Our Reader's Chair has quickly become the most popular seat in the room! Students take turns sitting in the chair to share their habitat research and read animal facts aloud. It has built so much confidence, especially for some of my quieter students who now eagerly volunteer to present. The reading comprehension cubes have transformed how we discuss nonfiction texts. Students roll the cubes and answer prompts about main idea, key details, vocabulary, and connections—all related to their animal research. Discussions have become deeper and more collaborative.\r\nThe dry erase markers and dry erase animal project packets allow students to brainstorm, sort animal traits, and map out habitat features before committing ideas to paper. This has encouraged risk-taking and revision without fear of \"messing up.\" The pencils and adorable animal erasers have made drafting and editing feel special; students proudly use their erasers while revising habitat descriptions. One of our favorite moments was when students used Play-Doh to model key features of their chosen habitats—rolling rivers for rainforest ecosystems, shaping dunes for desert scenes, and building icy terrain for Arctic animals. The excitement in the room was incredible as they compared models and explained why certain features were essential for survival.\r\n Finally, the animal plate art kits helped students create stunning visual representations of their habitats. Students are excited to combine their research, writing, and art into a final Habitat Showcase. Each child will present from the Reader's Chair, display their animal plate habitat, and use the reading comprehension cubes to lead a short audience Q&A session. We are also beginning to compare habitats, discussing how climate and environment affect animal adaptations.\r\n Because of you, our classroom is not just learning about where wild things live but also we are thinking, creating, presenting, and growing together. The fish tank has also created a calming environment, helping students regulate emotions and stay focused during learning time.\r\n\r\nGrowing butterflies has been an unforgettable, hands-on science experience. Students were able to witness the life cycle firsthand, from caterpillar to butterfly. This project encouraged curiosity, patience, and excitement for learning as students made observations, drew diagrams, and shared their discoveries with pride.\r\n\r\nOur herb-growing project has given students a deeper connection to plants and the natural world. They learned how to care for living things, observed growth over time, and practiced responsibility by watering and monitoring their herbs. One memorable moment happened during a game-based review session when students worked in teams to solve problems and explain their thinking to one another. I watched students who are usually hesitant during math lessons confidently justify their answers and encourage their classmates. The games created a safe space for learning through collaboration and discussion.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate.
