The Reach for the Stars Through Reading rewards have quickly become a joyful and meaningful part of our reading program. Students know that their hard work, perseverance, and reading achievements can lead to a special surprise from our reading rewards gumball machine—and they are excited to make good choices and reach their goals.\r\n\r\nI have been filling our machine with fun, non-food prizes, including 3D-printed bookmarks, little dinosaurs, holiday-themed white ghosts and black cats, and many other surprises. Some students receive a plastic capsule with a prize inside, while others receive a numbered capsule that sends them to our 3D Prize Station to choose their reward. Watching students discover what they have earned has brought so many smiles and moments of excitement to our Innovative Learning Center!\r\n\r\nBut the most exciting impact has been the change in student behavior and reading habits. I have seen students become more motivated, more persistent, and more eager to participate in reading activities. Even more amazing, 97% of our students participated in Beanstack and logged their reading! That level of participation is something worth celebrating.\r\n\r\nIt has been incredible to see how a little incentive can encourage students to make positive choices, build reading habits, and take pride in their accomplishments. The rewards may be small, but the impact is BIG. Our students are discovering that when they read, work hard, and persevere, they can reach their goals—and reach for the stars!\r\n\r\nOur next step is to keep the momentum going. We will continue celebrating reading milestones, adding new 3D-printed prizes to our reward station, and encouraging students to set new reading goals. Having an easy-to-use, efficient cleaning system allows us to quickly take care of these messes and return our focus to what matters most — books, learning, and joyful exploration. Our floors are now fresher, safer, and more inviting for students who love to sit, read, collaborate, and learn together on the floor.\r\n\r\nThe heavy-duty magnetic hooks have also transformed our space. Organization plays a huge role in creating a calm learning environment, especially in a shared space where multiple classes rotate throughout the day. These hooks give us much-needed storage and display options, allowing us to hang materials, student work, visual aids, and supplies in a way that keeps everything accessible while reducing clutter. Our room feels more open, orderly, and welcoming — and students can easily find what they need, which helps build independence and responsibility.\r\n\r\nThe Magic Erasers have become one of our most-used tools! From tables and chairs to shelves and whiteboards, these little cleaning heroes help us keep surfaces spotless despite the enthusiastic energy of young learners. Students take pride in helping clean up their space, and now we can model responsibility and care for shared materials while keeping our media center looking bright and fresh. A clean environment helps students stay focused, engaged, and excited about learning — and your donation directly supports that every single day.\r\n\r\nOne of the most beautiful additions to our space has been the Artscape Agate privacy window film. This colorful, calming design transforms our windows into a soft, inviting feature that brings warmth and comfort into the room. It not only provides privacy but also creates a peaceful atmosphere that helps students feel relaxed and safe — the perfect mindset for reading, thinking, and exploring stories.
