At the end of every content area, and often in between, I was able to give rewards for correct answers, top performances, and some just plain luck. I've really enjoyed pulling the prizes out and watching the students decide on what to take. From sugar skull stickers to texture strips and lollipops, there are options for everyone!\r\n\r\nIt was incredible to have such a variety of offerings. Once the word got out that I \"had the good stuff\", students would plan what they would choose and got excited to participate. I even had a repeat winner work extra hard to get a replacement texture strip when their first one accidentally went through the washing machine! \r\n\r\nTeen mental health is a historically complex and fragile thing. So, while small prizes are not a magic pill, they have offered small bits of joy and excitement that I know is improving student attitudes and outlooks. Also students enjoy receiving tangible rewards for their often intangible learning gains. \r\n\r\nThank you for supporting students in such a vulnerable time of their lives.
