I have been able to incorporate our new materials in our classroom centers allowing students to explore the items during a rotation and free choice setting. With the sound sorting I have been able to highlight and focus on our letter and sound for the week with a literacy center. With the silly science I have been able to highlight science, but math skills and practice your of fine motor skills with the use of the tongs to focus on patterns and one to one correspondence. They were so excited to see new manipulatives being pulled out of boxes! My class was super excited when I opened the box and the other classes were shocked when there were new things in our recess wagon! \r\n\r\nThe recess equipment have been used everyday! The equipment have allowed for students to organize a variety of games; soccer, ball toss, jump rope and Frisbee. Students have interacted with each other, to share and allow for them to get to know other first graders names and show connections they might have with other students. \r\n\r\nSomething else I have noticed, students are taking pride in the materials. Working together to ensure things are picked up, rather than leaving out.
