Thanks to your support, I have been able to provide our students with tools that have enriched their learning experiences and helped them build valuable skills in a creative and hands-on way.\r\n\r\nStudents were able to use the ipad to explore their creativity through, digital sketching and planning. This not only helped them prepare for fun and engaging art projects but also enhanced their ability to visualize their ideas before bringing them to life with our beautiful class quilts.\r\n\r\nStudents were also very excited to receive the new fower pots to repot the herbs they grew from seeds at the beginning of the year. This project combined gardening and culinary education, reinforcing lessons on sustainability and the importance of growing your own food. Watching the students tend to their plants, track their growth, and incorporate these fresh herbs into cooking lessons was truly inspiring, and I know something they will take with them well pass middle school. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, the new oven mitts you provided allowed the students to safely engage in baking activities, such as making cookies and pizzas. Through these hands-on lessons, they learned essential cooking techniques and followed basic recipes, gaining a deeper understanding of kitchen safety, measurements, and food preparation.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your support has been immeasurable. You've given our students more than just materials—you've provided them with the confidence to experiment, learn, and develop skills that will serve them for a lifetime. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and for believing in the potential of our students.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for helping us make these experiences possible!","fullyFundedDate":1732826586640,"projectUrl":"project/skills-for-life/8958545/","projectTitle":"Skills for Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Travers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9844699_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732388115189","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9844699"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_93513","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":323,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":98,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":41.4,"schoolId":93513,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about KIPP District of Columbia - Will Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"KIPP District of Columbia - Will Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/district-of-columbia/kipp-dc-public-schools/kipp-dc-will-academy/93513"}
