Some examples are a tensegrity structure or a \"floating table\" to demonstrate balanced forces and equilibrium of objects, a skull model for demonstrating simple machines in the body, and a twisted geometric container to demonstrate vectors, light shifts due to shadows, and stress distribution because of shaping.","fullyFundedDate":1760657227863,"projectUrl":"project/physics-thoughts-to-reality/9829824/","projectTitle":"Physics Thoughts to Reality","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9463627_orig.png?crop=362,362,x0,y20&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1712848364707","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9463627"},{"teacherId":9463627,"projectId":8942038,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. I love reading and have seen a number of my students with books borrowed from library or personal books. I created this project because I wanted to build on my observations and improve students' comprehension/communication skills. \r\n\r\nThe new physics books have brought exciting opportunities for students to create connections between the classroom and everyday activities. \"The Physics of Everyday Things\" makes physics relatable by showing how it works in our daily lives—like how a microwave heats food or an elevator operates. \"Seven Brief Lessons on Physics\" introduces big ideas like relativity and quantum mechanics in a way that's short, poetic, and easy to understand, which has inspired students to think about the universe in new ways. \"Super Simple Physics\" is a clear and straightforward guide to help students grasp key concepts quickly, giving them the confidence to tackle more challenging topics. The goal was to have the books work together to provide a mix of real-world applications, big-picture ideas, and accessible explanations and the students did not disappoint.\r\n\r\nIn my class, reading books is interactive and fun. Students often team up to discuss what they've learned, solve related problems, or connect ideas from the books to hands-on activities. After reading \"The Physics of Everyday Things,\" students have been excited to explore how household items work, like figuring out the science behind a smartphone. Some students have especially loved \"Seven Brief Lessons on Physics\" for its mix of science and philosophy, sparking thoughtful conversations about the universe and our place in it. These books are not only teaching physics but also inspiring curiosity and creativity!","fullyFundedDate":1741955077882,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-literature-to-my-physics-classr/8942038/","projectTitle":"Bringing Literature to my Physics Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9463627_orig.png?crop=362,362,x0,y20&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1712848364707","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9463627"},{"teacherId":9774262,"projectId":8814453,"letterContent":"My students and I are grateful for your gracious monetary contributions which allowed for the purchasing of the items on our wish list! Each item has been received and utilized. Students are able to use the earbuds, in order to complete assignments for academic classes when they need to listen to questions on tests and when they need to listen to materials for foreign language classes (Spanish and French). Some students actually use them to listen to stories/novels when appropriate for their English classes. Students are permitted to listen to music during lunch, so the earbuds allow for activities that are non-academic, as well.\r\n\r\nMany students do not come equipped with a writing utensil, so, in our room, we use lead pencils. The pencil sharpener that we had used in this room for the past three years, unfortunately, stopped working at the beginning of this school year. Thanks to your generosity, we have a new one that works great!\r\n\r\nTissues are always a hot commodity; and they are in our classroom, as well! I've always hated to see students having to use the brown paper towels to blow their noses. So, I always try to keep tissues on hand. My classroom supply was nearly empty, but thanks to you, we have a supply that should last us for the remainder of the school year. Flu season is here, and allergy season is quickly approaching... Our noses thank you!\r\n\r\nI had received an email that the hand sanitizer on my original wish list was out-of-stock, therefore, I had the opportunity to choose another item. I chose the small, compact heater. Our room gets pretty cold sometimes; two of our four walls are exterior walls. I do have a small heater that I keep in the back of the room, and sometimes, students ask for it to be moved to the front of the room. So, I thought that an additional heater would be a great addition to our classroom, and it is! Now that we have one in the front and one in the back, our students are always comfortable.\r\n\r\nI would like to extend our thanks to you once again!","fullyFundedDate":1727286020988,"projectUrl":"project/significant-supplies-for-our-students/8814453/","projectTitle":"Significant Supplies for Our Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tarr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9774262_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727098480523","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9774262"},{"teacherId":9463627,"projectId":8724740,"letterContent":"Thank you so much. That being said, some students were so excited when they discovered it and tested it for me. The students asked if this could be used as the main message board for them to communicate with each other, other classes, and to post the daily funny/inspirational message.
