Reading in any language is a fantastic way for students to absorb new vocabulary and structures while simultaneously learning about different cultures and places. This is doubly true in a language classroom. \r\n\r\nIn Notre Monde, we have learnt about places as diverse as Morocco, Burkina Faso, France, The Congo and Canada (all French-speaking places), all in stories in which the vocabulary has been carefully chosen to be not-too-easy but not-too-difficult for beginner learners. It is a fantastic way to build confidence and proficiency as well as cultural awareness.\r\n\r\nIn Nuestro Mundo, we've read about schools in Mexico and Puerto Rico, the population of Bolivia, music in Spain, dance in the Dominican Republic, and food in Chile, and that's all only in level 1.
