At three years old, children are developing important early literacy skills, and these books have provided opportunities to build vocabulary, listening comprehension, print awareness, communication skills, and a love of reading.\r\n\r\nOne set of books that has been especially popular is our collection of food group books. The children enjoyed learning about different foods, identifying foods they eat at home, and talking about healthy choices. These books sparked conversations among the students and helped them make connections between what they were reading and their everyday lives.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks different throughout the day. We read books together during circle time, in small groups, and individually with students. The books are also available in our classroom library, where children can independently explore, look at pictures, retell familiar stories, and practice caring for books. Many of our students are not yet reading words, but they are learning that books contain information, stories, and ideas. They enjoy turning pages, discussing illustrations, and sharing what they notice with their friends and teachers.\r\n\r\nThe donation allowed us to greatly expand our classroom library and rotate books throughout the year. Having a variety of books available has helped keep students interested and engaged while exposing them to new topics, vocabulary, and experiences. Several students who were not initially interested in books have begun choosing books during free-choice time and asking teachers to read their favorites over and over again.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us provide meaningful literacy experiences for our youngest learners. Your generosity has helped create a classroom environment where children can develop curiosity, language skills, and a lifelong love of books and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1773691268768,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-love-of-reading-one-book-at/10091148/","projectTitle":"Building a Love of Reading, One Book at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fischer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10333792_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773705081787","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333792"},{"teacherId":9244049,"projectId":10194447,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation and supporting my special education classroom.
