These new resources have given students more choices for independent reading during free time and when they finish work early, and they have already become classroom favorites.\r\n\r\nScience Comics are especially popular with my sixth graders. Students who may not always choose a science book are excited to pick these up, and many are reading quietly on their own or sharing interesting facts with classmates. The Scholastic Science World magazines have been a big hit. The articles are current, engaging, and easy for students to connect to, which keeps them interested and talking about science.\r\n\r\nWe're also very grateful for the flexible-seating stools. Students use them during reading and group work, and the comfortable, movable seating has helped create a more welcoming and focused classroom—especially for students who need a little movement while they learn.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has expanded our classroom library and improved our learning environment in meaningful ways. Thank you for supporting my students and helping make our classroom a place where learning is engaging and enjoyable.","fullyFundedDate":1760561797196,"projectUrl":"project/science-literacy-in-middle-grades/9827199/","projectTitle":"Science Literacy in Middle Grades","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lawson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10311480"},{"teacherId":10311004,"projectId":9825531,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support through DonorsChoose. Because of your contribution, my students were able to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences centered on Greek and Latin roots, the building blocks of academic language.\r\n\r\nYour funding transformed abstract vocabulary into something tangible and empowering. Students didn't just memorize word parts; they decoded them, connected them across scientific and literary contexts, and gained confidence in tackling complex terminology. Watching students recognize that \"bio\", \"photo\", \"aqua\", and \"chloro\" helped unlock meaning across disciplines was a true \"lightbulb moment.\"\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity enriched the classroom experience. Lessons became more interactive, curiosity-driven, and student-centered. The resources you provided helped students see language not as a barrier, but as a tool, one they can wield with skill and pride.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and believing in the power of education. Your support made a lasting impact, and the learning you sparked will extend far beyond our classroom walls.","fullyFundedDate":1760487431917,"projectUrl":"project/the-language-of-life-reading-our-dna-li/9825531/","projectTitle":"The Language of Life: Reading Our DNA Like a Story","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Reichenberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10311004_orig.jpg?crop=478,478,x0,y55&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760385951459","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10311004"},{"teacherId":10311981,"projectId":9828609,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contribution for the purchase of our Scope News and Scholastic Scope magazine subscriptions. Literacy is one of the most precious rights we've gained as humans, and your decision not only to honor it but also to fund it has built a beautiful connection between my classroom and the state that supports it.\r\n\r\nWhen we received the flexible seats and the loads of books in our Reading classroom, my sixth graders and I were so excited to build up our comfortable reading nooks and our diverse and contemporary reading library. Because we read every day in the classroom, our chairs and books are well loved and well used, no matter how quickly we are able to bring in new donations and purchases, so the huge boxes of chairs and books that you donated to us updated our atmosphere and our reading choices right away. Nothing is as comfortable as a new reading nook, and nothing is as magical as an uncracked book.\r\n\r\nThank you so sincerely for all you have done. My students appreciate the new high, comfortable chairs and white boards as well. \r\n Students loved the new chairs for the classroom. The first class to use them made presentations to the class. In groups of two or three, students presented newscasts about world climate zones. The pairs worked best as they were both able to sit and point to certain parts of the world. The students were so excited, they now want to sit in them everyday and now take turns so they are more comfortable taking notes. Students cannot wait for the next time they have to make a presentation\r\n The white boards are also a big hit. We have been able to do a review for quizzes very quickly and efficiently. It is nice to have a board for each student so they don't have to share. They can do their own work. Students have also been asking to use them as a hard surface to write on. Especially if they are sitting in the new comfortable chairs they do need a hard surface to write on. So they like to use the new white boards.","fullyFundedDate":1760795952346,"projectUrl":"project/team-griffin-6th-grade-presentations-mat/9828713/","projectTitle":"Team Griffin 6th Grade Presentations Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. English","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10312022"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69904","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":795,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":8,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":46.2,"schoolId":69904,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sussex Academy - Secondary Campus on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sussex Academy - Secondary Campus","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/delaware-department-of-education/sussex-academy-of-arts-sciences/69904"}
